Thank you gift ideas?

I am a teacher on summer break so the money is slim! I want to get my sisters (2) a little something for coming to my rescue. They are coming from NJ and MD and I live in Florida so it is quite a trip just help their little sis out for a week or so! They both are married and have plenty of money so whatever it is that I give them has to be something that would mean something. Perhaps something I could make? It woulc have to be easy!!!

I read somewhere about a candy bouquet for the nurses at the hospital and I think the idea of having some sort of special (not just candy in a bowl) is a great idea. Maybe since it is summer I could put the candy in a decorated sand bucket???

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated! Thanks again for all the support you ladies have given me. I am sure I would have backed out if it wasn't for the friendly help!!

Have a great day!
Linda

Hi! Linda,
Maybe you could make a flower pot with a silk flower or flowers that it doubles for a pen or assorted color pens. I saw that in the clinic and also made them as presents for anyone who has an office or phone. It is very handy and at the same time decorative.

Linda,

I am a florist and own my shop. We do a great candy basket and actually anyone can do it. Glue a piece of foam into a basket, insert silk greenery (sometimes I use live), then tape floral sticks (you could use popsicle sticks) to the back of candy bars. Then arrange the candy bars in the basket, like you would flowers. Put on a pretty bow, it's that easy. These baskets are always a big hit with our customers.

I have a great one!

Do a little "themed" gift in a cute container that goes with the theme. Ok... maybe movie tickets and a restaurant gift card in a cute container? Or a Blockbuster giftcard, some microwave popcorn, and candy in a plastic popcorn holder... if they like manicures/pedicures, maybe make a little theme of that. Polish, naile files, maybe not a gift card for one since they live farther away, but you get the idea. Find something that indiviualizes their personality and GO FOR IT!!! For me, it's all about the presentation. Don't just stick it in a gift bag, find a creative way to display it. The mani/pedi pak could be in a pedicure shoe or something with plastic wrap around it. Get it?

I will be excited to hear what you do.

I am a teacher too and always trying to find ways to be creative inexpensively. I did this for my "Room Mom" and she loved it!!!

Linny

Well, I just had my LSH a week ago today. If my math is correct, that is about 3 weeks recovery time for you? Hmmm... Do the children start on the 10th, or are you doing room prep? Do you have an assistant teaher? If you are having an abdominal procedure, I can tell you from experience (I had a tumor and my right ovary/fallopian tube removed abdominally in 2004, and then a Tummy Tuck the next year--both done in summer) there was no way that I personally could have gone back to work in 3 weeks. With this LSH, I might be able to swing that, but luckily I don't go back until the end of August. Did you tell your Dr your job and what it entails? What did he/she say your recovery time would be? I know I was VERY tired after both, the anesthesia kicks you down for awhile. Not to mention that your belly has an incision to have heal properly, swelling and the like. I hope this doesn't make you nervous, I just want you make sure you have all of your bases covered. I suggest talking to those who have had a TAH or doing a search on recovery times to compare to those with the same procedure. As a teacher myself, I know that energy level is a must with my children, they are 5. They wipe me out on a normal day, let alone after a major surgery. Hope this helps you. Feel free to stay in touch!
