Complex Ovarian Cyst

I am so thankful to find this site....
For more than 6 months, I knew something was wrong. Finally, in May, I was diagnosed w/ a "moderate to large" (6cm) complex ovarian cyst with a septation and echos in the fluid. I did not have a Gyn at the time so I have had to wait to get an appointment - still more than 2 weeks away. My level of discomfort is increasing and I'm irritated because this appt will likely be an appt to make an appt for surgery. Waiting, waiting, waiting. I'm a teacher and I would like to get this over with ASAP - not only to make sure it's not cancer - but so I can get back to my life and not have to miss school in the Fall. I guess I'd just be interested in reading about other women's experiences with similar cysts. A little company, ya know. Thanks ladies.

Complex Ovarian Cyst

I had a 7 cm complex cyst and they put me on b/c pills for 6 weeks and it went down to 2 cm. I have dealt with cysts for a long time. Now on the 23rd Im having my ovaries and tubes removed because I have a mass on my left side and I have endo.

Hope this helps a little ....

Thanks! That does help. Let me ask you... when you went on the BCP and the cyst shrank to 2cm - then what happened? Thanks again.

Complex Ovarian Cyst

I had ovarian cyst since I was in my 20's, I've had an ovarian wedge resection and two laprascopies. The pain was more than I could bare sometimes and I'm glad it's behind me. The thing about ovarian cyst is they can come and go some are solid and others fluid filled. They can be painful or not at all and some women don't know they have them. This is a good reason to have yearly pelvic exams. Best of luck hope things go well and do what is best for you.

Complex Ovarian Cyst

Here is my two cents worth on this all...

I went in about a month ago with terrible abdominal pain. They did a Trans Vag. ultrasound and found a 3.5 cm complex cyst went to GYN and said wait 8 wks to see what happens with it. About 1 week later it burst...PAINFULL!! I had a hyst in Dec. and have had the same pain that I did prior to my hyst... frustrating and my doc won't do anything. Tells me cysts will come and go just deal with them.

My DH and I are so frustrated because our intimate relations are not there because I am in pain 90% of the time and he just wants my quality of life back. So, I can't shed too much positive light on your situation I guess it all depends on the GYN and their opinions. I feel like I am a mental case when I am in pain and try to keep telling myself just to live with it these are common and "get over it".

Let me know what you find out or if you have any suggestions.!!

Good luck and sorry for venting!!

Find a doctor who's more sympathetic to your situation and your quality of life. That doc sounds like a jerk. (my 2 cents) =)

Angandyloosen,
Your doctor wont try B/C pills. Thats what they always did for me and it

made them go away . He does sound like a jerk if he wont give you anything to try.

I've dealt with cysts on the ovaries for years and I know they are very painful and can

make you nauseous . It doesnt matter if they're small or large they still hurt.

Maybe you need to find another dr.

Hope ya feel better soon

Complex Ovarian Cyst

Loosen -

7 weeks post-hyst, I had a US because of pain and a 2 1/2 cm was found. Dr said to give it 6 weeks and come back. She wanted to see it at mid-cycle. At 5 weeks, it ruptured, I just thought I was dying.

In December, she wanted to remove scar tissue as she felt it was what was causing the pain, that the cyst was 'trapped'. I wouldn't hear it. I wasn't ready to beleive it wouldn't resolve itself.

In February, I had had enough and went in for a surgical consult. In passing she mentioned BC pills. They were 'the fix', within days I was pain free exceopt for 2 days a month (I could live with that). BUT after 2 months, they rose my Blood Pressure and had to go. I was hopeful that the break might have resolved everything.

April was a bad month. May 1st I went in for a visit and by visits end had scheduled a lap for a look around assuming we would find endo and maybe a little scar tissue. All I knew was I had not felt well in a year and I was ready to do whatever I had to to get my life back.

My Dr has said she can't guarantee the pain will be gone. I appreciate that. That being said, she have never said, even when I refused a lap, to just 'live with it'. I think if this isn't the fix for me, she will continue to work with me. The same might be true for you, you might never be pain free but I think its way too early in the search to give up and tell you to 'live with it' (Just my two cents!).

Can I make a suggestion? Try a second opinion with a GYN that is a reproductive endocrinologist. They deal alot with cysts and al the hormones that affect how our bodies function (or don't).

Best wishes on your journey,

Julie

Gyn thinks it may be endometrioma on the ovary. More tests over the next week. Then surgery. Time to surf this site for info on endometriomas.
