question to those with ovarian cancer

Hi newscat and sole...thanks for your posts. I do have IBS and I know how that makes me feel. However the pain on my left side is fairly new and that is where there is wall thickening in my colon, and on the right I am having issues with my bile duct and with that there is quite a bit of pain. The pain also radiates to my back and my shoulder. With my IBS I have the usual symptoms...although ironically my IBS hasn't been quite as bad lately...who knows. So I will see the GI DR in Sept. and hopefully get some help and relief. Thanks again and take care....Lisa

question to those with ovarian cancer

First want to say nice to find this site. My name is Laura 44years old. About 12 years ago was last gyn appt. till recently. they scared me so bad at last one didn't want to face it again. Life change have some one I want to be around for. Anyway, Had all the same simptoms as decribed, we to regular doctor about back pain did xray said have bulging disk gave pain med but can't take at work so didn't take. Pain in left side pelvic area at times, tiredness, feeling full, stomack growing without eating anymore. Decieded to go to gyn first appt.5/31. She did blood work, pap, scheduled for pelvic ultrsound. Called said abnormal high precancerous, need to do biopsy. Had that done on 6/21. Results last stage before cancer, had endomirical biopsy done on 7/18, waiting for results. I was also told I have a growth on left ovary, have to go for another ultrasound on 7/30 to see how much it has grow. Uterus was also in larged from last ultrasound. D. has already said I need a hysterectomy but want to try and save an ovary,I want her to take everything . Unfortunily I don't know any family history. Would like to tell any who is scared don't wait go right away, with lots of faith things will be ok for me. Would like to know others thoughts on keeping one ovary if it can be saved. Sorry about spelling.

question to those with ovarian cancer

welcome to the site Laura....sorry you have been having pain and problems. Maybe if you do have a hysterectomy they will be able to save your right ovary, since you said it was the left one that you are having issues with. I am thinking of having my right ovary removed as it has been giving me problems for awhile now. I have heard that most women do well with just one ovary. Everybody of course is different, but certainly talk to your DR about wanting to save your right ovary. Best wishes to you. Feel free to ask any questions you have. Also you can ask questions in the pre-op forum, and a lot of ladies will come along who have first hand experience with keeping one ovary that can help answer your questions. Take care.....Lisa

But I'm not sure I really want to keep husband says take all out. Co-worker of his, wife had hyster 10years ago left one ovary and in Jan was told that had cancer lucky that after removed it was not. Makes me think don't want anything left. Don't think I could handle stress, not really dealing with this well.
