Back Pain from Ovulation/Post-Op checkup
I had my 4 week post-op check up today, and he said everything looked good and healed, lifted my restrictions except for sex, which he said we may want to give another week or two . When I asked why I still had such back pain, and explained how bad it was on Mon. and Tue., he said it was because I am ovulating. He said my left ovary is a little enlarged from it. He said I didn't have to come back for a year unless I have any kind of trouble. Shouldn't he have wanted to check the ovary again in a few weeks to make sure ovulation is all it was? Maybe I am just too much a scardy cat. Yesterday and today have been my first good days since the surgery. I didn't even bother to ask for more pain medication, I figured if I really need it I will go to my PCP for it. I asked if the pathology report was back, he said yes, and told me what it said. Then I carried my own chart back out to the front desk, and on the way took a look at it. I saw a photo in it, that he didn't show me, and I am not sure if it was the uterus or the cervix, but there was a spot of what was labeled "Masters-Allen Syndrome on it. This wasn't mentioned in the pathology report but was in the Operation Report which was detailed and I had them give me copies of both. Does anyone know anything about Masters-Allen Syndrome? It looked sort of like a circle of skin just missing, like when you pop a blister, and you have that layer missing. I like this Dr ok, but he just is not very talkative nor does he go into much detail, but I think he should have told me about that being there. I know it doesn't mean anything now, whatever it was on is gone. Still, it makes me wonder...

Hi WVLady,
Yes, I can see why you'd wonder about the "Masters-Allen" syndrome. Try doing a search on this site, or even on the web, and see what you come up with. Sorry I'm not more help on that.
Also, even though you no longer have the condition, you are very entitled to ask your Dr any questions you may have related to your female health. Don't be shy about calling him up and asking him about what it was. That's the kind of thing you pay him $$$ for!
My very best to you...
Linda
