joint and muscle pain
Hello ladies, I had my TAH last June which makes me 13 months down the track. I have been reading here about some of you with joint and muscle pain, but all seem relatively soon after your op. My problems started last August and have gradually got worse. My joints all ache, from my fingers down to my toes, but the worst is my legs...I have no strength in my knees at all and if I crouch down I cannot get up unaided! I also still suffer with the worst cramps imaginable! To top it all off if I spend a day walking a lot, or now that the weather here in Australia is cold, I snuggle under the doona, my body seems to overheat and I come out in these red whelts all over my legs which are really hot and drive me mad with itching. I cannot bear it if my two legs are crossed over or touch each other in bed.
My doctor has tested for a few things but seems stumped, and of course I have not been as firm as I should have because every time I see him they seem to look normal so I have reorted to photos to show him what I mean. Still, he doesn't seem to appreciate how desperate I am getting. To find this website has people with the same problem is a miracle...can any of you, long-term, give me any advice or suggestions? Anything would be greatfully received.
I can only say that this post-op period is almost as bad in its' way as the reason I had the hysty in the first place...luckily I have the best hubby, who is not pressing me to be more of a wife to him but this is getting beyond a joke. This is not going to be my life from now on is it?

joint and muscle pain
Hi Mary,
I am having the same problems with muscle/joint pain too..I went to the GP the other day and we are trying to figure out if there is something wrong with the bloodwork I have. I am terribly anemic-have been for years, so I am wondering if the iron is causing some of the horrible leg cramps-and burning sensations I am having in my feet.
Ugh..thought I would feel alot better at this stage..time heals..time heals..
Keep us posted.

Joint pain and arthritis like pain can be a symptom of low estrogen.
Are you on HRT?
I was experiencing the same thing, when my DR increased my estrogen, it helped alot.
Best wishes!
