Intimacy post op - 8 weeks and hurting

I have a question. I got in a major fight with my obgyn 4 weeks after surgery, long story but she turned out to be totally incompitent. So I never went back and haven't seen anyone for a check down there just a gp for hrts. It's been 8 weeks and sex hurts really bad. What should I do? I don't think I am comfortable asking the new gp to do a check down there. Any ideas?

You need to find a dr. and get checked ASAP. You need to make sure that everything has healed right. Maybe you still have some stitches that haven't dissolved all the way, maybe you still need some healing time, what ever the problem is with it hurting during sex, YOU NEED TO GET CHECKED.

Get working on finding a new doctor quickly! I totally agree that you need to get checked and have a doctor available to you when you help. I also had a situation with my doctor who did my surgery and now am being treated by a new GYN. You can ask your GP for a recommendation or even they will help you get a quicker appt with the new doctor.

Ditto, Ditto

You definately have to find a new dr. and get checked. You might not be healing right or you could have an infetion. And if you truley feel your dr. was incompetent there could be other issues. Please get in to see someone ASAP!!

Good luck-keep us posted.

I agree with everyone else... and if you're anything like me.... you'll need to hear it from many before you go see a doc I'm quite stubborn.... but this is a serious matter, you really want to be checked by a doc who knows what they are looking at and can tell you what may be wrong, if anything is wrong. You may just be sore, but do you really want to take that chance with your healing?? Please go see a doc.... time to swallow the pride and go see someone. I hope you feel better soon!!!!

you need to find a new gyn to follow up on your surgery. you really shouldnt stop at the four week check as a follow up and since sex is painful, there is probably something going on. probably something simple but you still need a gyn to check your incisions. good luck!

You need to find a new Dr.!!!!
My story, I am almost 8 months out, back in April my DH and I couldn't have vaginal sex at all since it hurt to bad. The Dr's couldn't find anything physically wrong. Finally one told me it might be that since the nerves have grown and started feeling again down there, they are going thru a surgical trama. Which meant they were highly sensitized and at any touch would basically clamp shut.
There were days that it hurt to even wipe after using the bathroom. We are able to have vaginal sex now but he still has to be careful in certain postions.

dear notsosunny, the ladies are right. Please you need to take care of yourself and find a new doc.

I know it is hard -- especially after everything you have already gone through! But this early time after your hyster can determine your health permanently.

prayers for you!

pain

You definetly need to go get it checked out BUT I am 7 months post op and sex still hurts. This last "week" has gotten better. I went back several times and there was nothing wrong. He said that it can take up to a year for everything to heal. And i had a&p repair which makes it worse. Anyhow all of the scar tissue inside is what could be making you hurt. But it's a good idea to go to the dr. to make sure thats all it is, if that is it! Good luck to ya!

My Dr. released me at 6 wks but told me if it hurt to bad to wait another 2 wks & that I also would see some spotting. Well it hurt like heck, you need to make sure you use plenty of lubricants, also if you have a cuff my urologist said it takes months to stretch.
You should get a check up just to double check that all is ok.
