Sharp Pains

Hi everyone

I had a hyst almost 2yrs ago and just recently (especially the last 2 days) I've had sharp pains low down in my abdomen. It feels like its where my bladder is. Also I get sharp pain where my cervix used to be. It sounds strange but its hard to describe but thats the position of the pain. Could it be some sort of prolapse? I hope not but I do notice this pain when I go to the toilet as well.

I've never had leakage or bladder issues before but occassionally, if I run, I feel some urine leak out, only a very small amount. It doesn't happen often . Also when I go to the toilet I have no problem stopping midstream, yet if I'm busting and I turn the shower or a tap on I literally can't hold it.

I don't know, turning 40 did my head in and my body.

Sharp Pains

Carmen--

I am sorry you are now having these problems & pain. Have you been checked for a UTI? It's wise to get that done first just in case.

It is very possible to have prolapse problems after having a HYST. However, the only way to tell for sure is to be examined by a DR who knows what to look for. A urogynecologist (UroGYN) is the type of DR generally known as the pelvic floor specialist for women. If you don't already have one, you can find one by going to augs.org and clicking on "information for women". [That is how I originally found the practice I still go to and am very happy with.]

I do hope you find a solution for your problems and pain ASAP.

Sending {{{hugs}}} and good vibes.......

Sharp Pains

Thanks OrahDeb for that info/website... I have a dr appt on Monday... I'm paranoid that I'm going to end up with problems from the hyst. You hear so much conflicting info... I've heard that it is inevitable or much more likely, that if you've had a hyst you will eventually get prolapse of the vagina or bladder. Do the pelvic floor exercises still have the same advantages after a hyst?

I will let you know what the dr says on Monday
Thanks again

Sharp Pains

Carmen--

I just noticed you are in Australia. I do not know if you have a UroGYN society there like AUGS here in the U.S. I've tried looking it up online and can't find one myself. You may have to ask your own DR for a referral to one.

Although I haven't had pelvic floor physcial therapy myself, I do believe it can work and I definitely would try it if ever recommended. I think regular kegel exercises can be very helpful by anyone who's been cleared by their DR to do them.

Do let us know how things go after your appt. Monday....

Sending more +++ thoughts to you....
