New Scary pains

I can't type in your acronyms yet so please be patient with me. I had an ab hyst on 7-13 (yes, friday the 13th). Kept ovaries...3 hours removing the package along with the fibroids and massive adhesions from previous c-section 24 years ago.

Been doing well. As a person that normally walks 7 miles a day, I am shocked at how slow I seem to be recuperating. I digress.

Normal pulling, burning that everyone describes. Yesterday I walked to the end of my street......Maybe 12 houses in length with small incline. During the evening I started noticing a bruised type of feeling on the right upper side of my incision. No discoloration and it only hurts when I poke it (don't say it....I know, dont do that) or when a gas bubble goes by. Anyway the pain freaked me out and I started probing the lumps, numbness and owies that are now my abdomen (again, nothing major). Seems like there are a lot of inflamed areas near and around my incision. All this discovery freaking me out more. The pain that feels like pushing on a tender bruise appears to be very near or on the surface. Maybe just nerves getting back together?

The ibubrophen doesn't get rid of all the pains everyday so I have been taking one Vicodin a few times a day so I can walk, shower or get comfortable at bedtime.

My question is just this: Are you all experiencing new and different owies 11 days out? Should I stop being so sensitive. Maybe just stop looking for problems?

I do have a doctor appointment this afternoon but it is a 2 hour drive into the OC to see the doctor and I don't want to drive her crazy with my issues that may not need to take up her time.

If you can find a question in there to answer, please do so.

New Scary pains

I had intense pain for weeks, even at 12 weeks I wasn't back to normal. Everyone heals differently but you may be overdoing. 11 days isn't long enough to heal from major surgery. Take care of yourself.

I had the same thing on my incision but on the left side and the doctor told me that after surgery some fluids in the body rise to the top and not to worry. It happens more when I'm tired out. Hope that helps

I have experienced varied 'owies' all along. Never anything to concern me, just reminded me that I'd had surgery.

Back off of your walking a little and give your body time to heal some.

Thanks for all the replies. Just got back from the doctor. All is fine. Did enough to make myself hurt but not enough to do any detectable damage. I wish I knew how to know when you have done just enough in a day.

Thanks again.

New Scary pains

Its a new sensation or pain everyday for awhile. I am 7 weeks out and have been laying on my left side sometimes at night for a few weeks now. Well...last night I layed on my left side and it felt like I had a fist in my side of my tummy. I just figured "oh well" and changed positions.

Every now and then I get shooting pains here and there. My incision area is still numb and I hate to touch it because it feels wierd. And it's lumpy too still. Not as lumpy as it was but
still lumpy.

Listen to your body. It will tell you when you have done enough and just resign yourself to the fact that you have to rest and take it easy. Even though our minds feel better, your body has a LOT of healing to do.

Oh and....If it hurts...stop poking at it LOL . (Sorry..couldn't resist that one.)

Take care of yourself...2 weeks after my surgery..I went walking @ the grocery store..DUMB ME..Even tho DH was with me..and pushing the cart..I nearly fainted...then paid for it with all kinds of pain for a good week and 1/2.

the walking is good..but pace yourself..not too much..esp. with incline. It's summertime too, remember..so the heat is going to effect you too. I'm 6 weeks post op..and dr. told me to be very careful of heat...(I'm in TX)

I too have experienced all kinds of different pains..thru out this healing process. Listen to your body..and don't push too hard. My post op nurse described it to me like this..you just had a MAJOR surgery. If you were getting over a sickness, then sometimes you could push a little harder..but with a major surgery..if you push harder..you hurt yourself. It just takes time.

Happy Healing!

Jovigal.....you perfectly explained by weird new feelings. The side to side owies seem to change with the side I sleep on.....nothing overwhelming just weird. I am at 17 days now and have really made some leaps and bounds. I am really reminding myself all the time to enjoy feeling better but remaining sedate. I want to go walk a couple of miles so bad it is killing me. I did the end of the street yesterday again, this time much slower and in cooler weather. No bad results so that made me feel better.

Take care all.
