Hot flash trigger..

Hello Ladies

It's been a long time since I've posted here and I hope everyone is doing well.

I'm 37 years old, it's been about 4 years since my TAH for uterine cancer and I've been totally off hormones for about 1 year now. I was forgetting to take them so often and going through massive mood swings that I just decided to bite the bullet and go cold turkey. I took soy supplements for a while but now take nothing.

I've figured out most of my hot flash triggers and try to avoid them. Drinking too much caffiene sets me off, and if I'm overly warm I tend to get them, so I always dress in layers.

Now here's the weird one... when I have to go to the bathroom (pee) I can get a hot flash. It doesn't happen all the time, and some times when it happens I don't even realize I have to pee until after the flash starts. LOL Am I alone in this boat or have any of you had a similar trigger?

I'm just looking for reassurance that this isn't abnormal or something I should be concerned about.

Thanks in advance for the replies!

perspiring in Florida

I haven't noticed the trigger of getting hot flashes when I have to pee. I'll try to pay more attention though! What I have noticed is coffee being a trigger. But probably the biggest trigger is short term stress. Simply being called on in a meeting will absolutely make me melt--my hair gets soaked and my clothes start wilting.

Other times there is no reason I can see why these episodes begin! It is absolutely embarrassing. I cannot hide it at all. People try to be polite but I'm sure they're privately thinking, "What on earth is wrong with her?!"

My surgery was 3 1/2 years ago and I am currently not taking any type of HRT. When will this nightmare end??

Hot flash trigger..

Hi ladies,

Diet pop triggers my flashes. And what's weird is sometimes just thinking about getting hot triggers a flash. I'll have to watch now and see if I get one when I have to pee.

Hot flash trigger..

Thanks for the replies Ladies

Stress is definitely a trigger with me as well. I'm lucky though, I don't get night sweats.

I do have a very dry patch of skin I've developed in the past couple of years. At certain times of year (winter is the worst) it gets very sore and so dry that it hurts. It's left my skin discolored a little. Don't know where that came from.

I've always had issues with my kidneys/bladder. I had a kidney stone when I was 12, had to have my bladder stretched when I was 7 or 8. I'm prone to bladder infections (more so since the surgery) and I have a terrible time with sudden urges to go where I can't move I have to go so bad. So I did worry a bit that the hot flashes coming on with peeing might be a sign of something bad, so I'm glad to see others with this trigger as well.

You guys are the best! I can always depend on you for answers to my strange questions.

Mary Ellen
