new here please help LAVH vs TVH? long..
Hey there. Let me intro myself with some info about me and my crazy life!! I am 34 yrs old, soon to be 35. Have had an EXTENSIVE hx with Endometriosis, dx in 96 at stage 2, developed into stage 4 at times. Have had 5 laps to correct. Each time lt ovary was always covered and "stuck" to my other organs. Chocolate cysts removed, 1/3 of each ovary removed. I have 3 kids after ttc for years, we did IVF x 2 each resulted in single baby. Then in 2004 had LSO due to endo again. In 2005 I was dx with a benign pituitary tumor and was to have that removed, well i work in a lab and went to have my preops done only to find out i was pregnant! Much to our surprise (although we can laugh now) i was pretty overwhelmed. Had major head pain - worst pain in the world. Anyway, had to wait for the baby to be born before we could take tumor out. He was taken almost 7 wks early (with no ill effect!) ...anyway then 10wks after he came i had the tumor removed.
OK...so since i had him (via c-section other 2 natural) and had the tumor removed so soon my hormones i guess went nuts. I have been essentially bleeding 2 1/2-3 wks each month for a year and a half. Not to mention the pain is greatly intensifying. The about 2 wks ago my dh noticed something "wrong" down there...went to my gyn and she dx me with grade 2 uterine prolapse. We had discussed the TVH in Feb this year due to the bleeding issues and the pain and decided to wait, well now it needs to be done, and i am sooo ready. FINALLY my question, considering the extensive hx of endo and my ovaries being bound up to other organs should i have the LAVH rather than the TVH?? She wants to do the TVH, said the recovery would be faster. But i have been thru 5 laps, a c-section and brain surgery for crying out loud, surely i can handle this. What do you think....sorry this is sooooo long. My TVH is set for 9-10-07, so i can still call her and ask for the LAVH. I just want to make sure i need no more surgery - EVER!!
thanks so much, jamie
