Tumor of low malignant potential

August 29th 07 will be my one year anniversary for TAH: had large tumor on ovary of "low malignant potential"-appendix and lymph nodes also taken. My question for anyone: has anyone had a similarly named tumor removed and then had a tumor show up elsewhere? I thought I was home free but at my follow up visit last week was scheduled for CAT scan and another CA-125 (doesn't that show ovarian cancer possibility and I don't have ovaries anymore!) and some other blood test that looks for tumor markers. I asked how often I'm going to have to see gyn-onc and they said will have to follow up forever. I guess I erred in thinking "low malignant potential" was same as "benign". Thoughts anyone? I guess I'm wondering what are the chances I'll develop another similar tumor somewhere else in my body? Thank you to anyone who can enlighten me.

Tumor of low malignant potential

I was diagnosed with LMP -- both ovaries -- seven years ago June 2nd. I think your doctor is just making sure you are still ok. My doc said I had a 6-7% chance of a recurrence. LMP is considered benign by most doctors. I think it all depends on the stage of the LMP. Mine tumors were originally called Stage 1C, but then downgraded to LMP. I don't understand it either, but am glad that I didn't need chemo. Any questions, please feel free to contact me.
