Hello everyone! I'm a newbie here, and it's certainly reassuring to know that there's support for ladies going through the change of life.
My problem is this: when the doctor did my total hysterectomy, my vagina was shortened which has made intercourse VERY painful. I'm using estrogen cream which is supposed to help restore the dry tissues and, believe me, mine were extremely dry. I purchased a dilator set to try to solve the pain of penetration, but my vagina is just too short! I'm on the verge of considering plastic surgery as a last ditch effort to have a normal sex life again.
Does anyone else have this problem? I'd sure like to hear from you and what, if anything, you and/or your doctor can recommend or that can be done. I'm at wits end and very depressed.
I don't have any personal experience to share with this problem but I know there are members who do. Hopefully this time around they will see your thread and reply to share their experiences.
I have read a more recent reply by you and it sounds like things are better. I hope you are finding that over time using the combination of vaginal estrogen, a good lubricant, the dilators and intercourse all help to overcome the pain so you can have a more normal sex life.
