Back pain from small fibroids?

I found out about two months ago that I have several fibroids - three different types, inside, outside and somewhere in between the two of the uterus! I've been having bad low back/sciatic pain for about 6 months so feel this must be the cause of the pain. Has anyone else experienced this with smaller fibroids, just lots of them? My largest one is just over 2 cm. which isn't very big. But because I have so many, could this be the cause? I'm scheduled to have surgery (laproscopic vaginal hysterectomy) on the 13th of August and am afraid I really don't need it! I also have an appointment for a second opinion next week.

Back pain from small fibroids?

I had very bad sciatic pain beginning in 8/03. I had been dealing with bleeding and pain issues for two and a half years. My biggest fibroid was also 2 cm but I had smaller ones, polyps, adenomyosis, cysts and cysts on my right ovary.

So far, it seems that surgery has relieved the majority of my lower back pain. I went shopping for groceries yesterday and had NO pain at all. In the past I would have to lean on the cart to get my shopping done. I do have days where it will still ache just a bit but not as bad as it was.

Back pain from small fibroids?

I had very bad back pain and it is completely gone now.
Did you have a vaginal ulatrasound?

When I was getting the vaginal ultrasound, the technician spent a long time poking at one particular spot, which is exactly where my back pain seemed to come from.

That was my "Ah ha!" moment.

I did not connect the back pain with the fibroids til I was getting the hysterectomy. I had 4 fibroids in different places, one was the size of a grapefruit.

Good Luck!

Back pain from small fibroids?

i had alot of backpain before the surgery. In fact, i couldnt sleep on my back and i was already at the point where i couldnt pick up anything off the floor. I had "multiple" fibroids in my uterus along with a cyst on the left ovary and endometriosis. I havent had back pain since the surgery.

Penny

Yes, I had horrible back pain from the !!!!!!!!
Had my LSH on July 3rd, and aside from initial back pain right after surgery (which the Dr told me was from being on an unpadded table with my legs up during surgery)... my back pain is gone! Fibroids caused me so many problems... back pain, bladder and bowel issues, period mishaps and intense bleeding... It is always good to do your homework and make sure that a hysterectomy is what you think is the right choice for YOU!
