Questions about premarin 0.625, Hair falling OUT

I have been on it since 8 weeks post op. The last I say 3 weeks, I noticed my hair FALLING OUT.. So I stopped the premarin about a week ago, only taking one here and there. I dont' go back to the dr about this till Sept. I noticed my hot flashes returning, but so far not as had as right after surgery, night sweats seem to be the worse, and as for moodiness, really can't tell you because I been extremly stressed anyhow. Did anyone else have a problem with hair falling out while taking premarin? I noticed it is falling out a little less since I have only occasionally took it in the past 3 weeks. Will it grow back? LOL I think that is my biggest fear. At first I thought it was my imagination, but then when running conditioner through my hair I noticed I was having to rub my hands together to get all the hair off of them. Then when i would gently try to comb or brush it I would almost cry because it was like "globs" of it, I notice most of what i have lost in around the temple area and the crown. I started wearing hair pieces because it has gotten "thin" up there and i can't seem to hide it.

Sorry so long, TIA for any shares
Katie

It may be not the hormones, but an after effect from and anesthesia that is causing your hair to fall out. There is a really good shampoo and serum available at Nordstom, by I believe Osmotics, it is called FNS. If you don't have a Nordstom nearby you can order it off their dot com online. the shampoo is about 16 and the serum is I recall about 68.
I worked there several years ago and a woman bought it from me, she had great hair, and her sister who was with her told me she had gone nearly bald a shor time ago, i recall a couple of months.(?) she had gone through one bottle of the FNS and was buying her second! Her hair was beautiful and thick! she was a philipino woman I would guess 60 ish years old.
Double up on the B vitamins, add silica to your vitamin regime and try this shampoo and serum, it is available in men's and womens and I believe they are the same except the cost, as so often is the case, womens is more expensive but a little bit, so go with the mens its ok.
I have read this is common after this surgery, good luck, I hope this helps to restore your head of hair!

Questions about premarin 0.625, Hair falling OUT

I had my hysterectomy in Jan. 07 and after the surgery I noticed my hair falling out. I still had my ovaries until last month and after my oopherectomy my hair started falling out again. I think it's the anesthesia not the premarin. I myself am on premarin .065 Just ask your dr. and see what he thinks. I did have super long hair but recently cut it to my shoulders b/c of the dryness and hair falling out everywhere, it feels much healthier now. Good luck!

A low testosterone can cause hair to fall out as well, so if you have not already done so, perhaps ask the Dr about some testing...if nothing else for testosterone levels.

oh no

I just started on Premarin 0.625 4 days ago. TLH and BSO 7 days ago. So far, so good with my hair.

I have battled thin hair since after my 2nd child. I will occasionally go through a "shedding" phase and then it will be better for a while. I know that after my children and after another previous unrelated surgery my hair did fall out a few weeks afterwards. I assumed it was caused by stress, anesthesia, getting older, my shampoo...I just wasn't sure.

I am curious to know more about testosterone levels. I was not aware that low testosterone could cause thinning hair.

Well, I will hope for the best! Just when it was starting to fill out a little.
