Estradiol

I just started Estradiol I had my Hysterectomy (complete) in Feb of 06 and I havent taken anything, then about 5 months ago the hot flashes and sweats so I started taking natural things but the past month started getting really bad again so I called my OBGYN and she called this in for me it is the patch, how long does it take for the systems to start going away, this is my 3rd day and notice a little improvement but not much.

Thanks

Estradiol

Hi!

I'm glad you're starting to feel better. I use an estrogen patch, too. Mine is the 0.1 Vivelle Dot which is changed twice a week - every 3 1/2 days. Which estrogen patch did your doctor prescribe for you, and what is the dose? It varies on how long it takes for us to get full benefit from any hormone change. Be encouraged that you're noticing a difference.

You might consider keeping a hormone journal while you're working to find your balance. That way you'll have a written record of your symptoms which you can share with your doctor as you work together to find the right dose for you. In your journal you can jot down what your symptoms are, how often they occur and how severe they are. You can also note any other medications and supplements you are taking.

I hope you do really well on the patch!

Estradiol

I too started with the patch. It takes a while for your body to adjust. If the patch is falling off before you are ready to change it or you get an itchy red rash at the patch site then your body is not absorbing properly. I had to dc the patch and now take an oral form.
Good Luck
