After having this surgery, I can only find ONE Positive thing

I had my TVH almost three and a half months ago. Physically, I am healed. Hormonally and emotionally is a whole different story. The ONLY postive thing so far to come from my surgery is I don't hemorrhage every month anymore. That's it. I actually feel worse since my surgery in every other way. Of course, I am thankful that I don't bleed heavily any longer, but in exchange for that I have ovaries that have shut down and don't look like they are going to wake up. I have bad anxiety, hot flashes, night sweats at times, I cry EVERYDAY, have post surgical depression and spent three days in the psych ward for that, have a husband who gives NO support, doesn't understand, and is tired of dealing with my hormonal issues. I cannot take HRT for health reasons, and none of the alternative treatments I have tried have helped at all. Other than my heavy bleeding, I felt better BEFORE my hysterectomy. It's been a nightmare for me since the surgery. I don't go anywhere anymore because I never feel well enough to do so. I don't clean my house as good as I should because I just don't feel like it nor do I care. There is just no joy in my life now. I am in therapy and on medication, but it isn't much help. I am basically in a surgical menopause since my ovaries have shut down, and until my body gets used to the lower hormone levels, I live in this nightmare that has become my life. All the antidepressants in the world won't help a hormonal imbalance, I don't care what my psychiatrist says. Okay, vent over. I just needed to get this all out today. Maybe it will help me to feel better writing it all out. Thanks for listening, and please keep me in your prayers. I have a deep faith in God and I know that I will feel better someday. It's just so hard to wait and suffer and not see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Wow. I'm very sorry to hear this. Hormones are so important to balance and I don't know what to tell you since you can't take replacement hormones. I have to hope that as you keep looking for ways to conquer this - that something will work out. As long as you keep working toward the goal - something good will happen. Ignore your DH if he is a lump - concentrate on yourself and finding the remedy.

Try a good-quality Dong Quai 3 times a day. That is the old Chinese "women's" herb.

HUGS and I hope you get better soon...

I can relate.

I can relate to what you are going thru. I have been on depression med for 8 years and since having my surgery ( kept both ovaries) I have had panic attacks, anxiety, sleeping problems, depression. My family Dr added another anxiety med. to what I am taking. Makes me feel like a zombie!! I feel like a shell of what I used to be. A robot. I am going to get my dr to test my hormone levels. I am convinced there is something wrong there because of so many symptoms. Can you take any of the natural hormone supplement stuff?? If you ever need to talk just e-mail me!!

Oh my goodness, I am so sorry to hear how difficult this had been for you. What a terrible time you've had. I, too, believe in a mighty and powerful God that will get you through this. I liked what that one poster said... keep putting one foot in front of the other. That is such simple, yet wonderful advise. That's ALL you can do. My prayers go out to you right now that you can hold on while this is all being figured out.. that your doctor has the wisdom to suggest the right things... that your therapist knows how best to help you... that your husband can rise above his frustration and recognize your desperation. Take care and know we all are wishing the best for you.
