question about pre admit

I called the hospital about my pre admit, they told me that some primary care Dr. like to do that, instead of having the hospital do it. Has anyone else done it that way?? I was hoping to talk to someone about anesthesia, and getting a private room, and the pain meds??? Do I ask these question at my pre op with the gyno??? that's not til 2 days before surgery. I'm not that much of a control freak but I do like to get all my little duckies in a row. Maybe I'm just thinking too far ahead. Any input would be great!!!!
thanks

question about pre admit

I had my pre-op the day before my hyst. It started at my dr's office. From there I went to the hospital and did the pre admission, talked with the anesthelogist, had blood work, xrays etc. I had to have his orders before I went to the hospital so that they knew all that he wanted done.
If you're concerned, a call to your dr might help.
I understand how you feel - I like to know what to expect so that I can plan ahead too.

question about pre admit

I called the hospital and got some one very uncooperative. I explained that I live 2 hours away and wanted to do my pre-op with them the same day I did it with the physician. The hospital was rigid & insisted I must come at a specific date & time (when I am scheduled to be on a backpacking vacation!) I was kind but insistent, to no avail. A simple phone call to my doctor's office solved everything. If I were you I'd be polite and businesslike, but if that doesn't work, call your doctor's office. Hopefully they will iron it out for you as mine did for me. This is a stressful event and we don't need anything to make it unnecessarily harder. Good luck!

question about pre admit

The hospital that I work for requires you to do your pre-admit testing 7 days prior to your surgery. This way they make sure that everything is ok with your blood levels and xrays. It gives them time in case something needs to be repeated. As far as the questions they answered all mine @ my pre-admit (which was just a couple of hours ago), I did not get to talk the anesthesia dr but the nurse was very helpful and I even got to watch a video on LSH.

I would check & see if you can do the pre op bloodwork & xrays with your primary dr then ask the others questions at your pre-op appt, your gyno should know the answers or maybe call his office and a nurse can let you know.

Also as far as a private room, at the hospital I work for you can always request one but they will not guarentee one do to the nature of the business.

Good Luck
