Night Sweat Relief ???? HELP

Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts on how to minimize or even avoid night sweats?
I sleep with ceiling fan on,and a box fan right under AC vent blowing directly on me.
Doesn't help much...

Any advise welcome...

Thanks

Night Sweat Relief ???? HELP

Fefe,
I slept with the fans on as you are already doing. I also kept a glass of ice water near my bed and slept in a light cotton shirt. I also kept a clean cotton nightshirt on the bathroom counter and would get up and change if I got too soaked. Amazing the difference a dry shirt will do. I found that I sweated even more and was very uncomfortable if I kept the wet shirt on throughout the night.

Night Sweat Relief ???? HELP

It doesn't help a lot, but a nice cool/damp washcloth on the forehead gives some temporary relief. When I get really hot... I run the cool washcloth all over me... then when the fan is on me it cools me off because I can feel the evaporation of the slight bit of water on me from the washcloth.

I also keep an insulated cup of ice water next to my bed and take sips throughout the night.

I see that you kept an ovary (I have both of mine) have you had your hormone levels checked? I'm still waiting for my results (have an appt fri) to see if I may need a small dose of hormones temporarily until my ovaries kick back in (that is if they aren't working... which it sure doesn't seem like it!) Anyhow, just an idea

I hope you find some relief soon!

Night Sweat Relief ???? HELP

I have two fans in my bedroom and one of them is right at the foot of my bed and blows directly on me. That's the only way I can get to sleep and stay asleep. I sleep in very light cotton tanks and no covers. With the AC set on 76. Dogs and BF can just bundle up.

This raises a question

Okay, I have a question which others may think is dumb, but I am sweating at night, too. Not every night but often. However, I had a TAH so do not have ovaries anymore. I haven't had "hot flashes" that I can tell. Is this what is happening at night or is this normal??? Just wondering after reading these comments.
Thanks!

Night Sweat Relief ???? HELP

There are no dumb questions here

Night sweats are different than hot flashes from my understanding. I have hot flashes quite often... out of the blue I get Super Hot really quickly... sometimes I sweat and sometimes I don't. I (luckily) don't suffer from night sweats too often... most people consider a night sweat to be when you wake up soaking wet. Like many things, it's up to a personal interpretation

I hope this makes at least a little bit of sense... it's just how I see things

Night Sweat Relief ???? HELP

Hi, Try sleeping in a sports bra and panties. It's amazing how much cooler you will be when more skin is exposed to the breeze of a fan. Also, my doc gave me a prescription for 'Bellamine (sp?) to be taken before going to bed. It really helps. Good luck. Another thing does anyone have the problem of breaking out in a sweat when your fella tries to snuggle? Isn't that depressing? No skin to skin contact.

Just Sleep Naked!

I'm beginning to experience some of these and then just said, what the heck, I'm sleeping naked! When I break out in a sweat, I just throw off the covers and let the ceiling fan do it's thing! Only takes a few minutes and I'm cool again. And, of course, my husband loves it. But I too, can't snuggle because I get so hot - he likes to think it's him! HA!
