Light bleeding nearly 6 weeks post op
I did 9 weeks and then again after I went to Sam's yesterday and picked up a couple of heavy things. I did go back to the doctor and they checked me out but everything looked fine so I am not sure what to do now. And where the heck is it coming from anyway?! It wasn't alot, just when I went the ladies room, I noticed it. Anyone else?

Light bleeding nearly 6 weeks post op
My bleeding has slowed down this week but from 2 1/2 to 4 it was like a reg period. I think today I can refer to it as spotting, I was worried too. Hope it stops before 20th thats when my post-op ck is. I wondered where is is coming from as well.

Light bleeding nearly 6 weeks post op
Hi Joan
We all heal at different rates and some of us have a lot of bleeding(not heavy, but throughout the recovery) and some have almost none. The average minimal time for initial healing is considered 6 to 8 wks. If you look at that time frame some light spotting now wouldn't be considered abnormal for you. If you are one of the slower healers you could have stitches still dissolving and light bleeding coming from that and from some increased activity.
Because we are all so different I think it's a wise idea to call and ask your dr about anything that seems abnormal or causes you concern. That is what they are there for and you will be safe rather than sorry just in case something is amiss and needs attention. Some women develop granulation, which is tissue that doesn't heal properly and will cause bleeding when it is disturbed. If you have this it can show itself in bleeding past the time when you should be sufficiently healed not to have more bleeding. This can be treated in your dr's office, but will need to be treated to get it to heal properly and not continue to give you trouble.
I found that each week after that 5th wk showed marked improvements, but I had to take it slowly and not push myself. Five weeks seems like such a long time and we tend to think everything should be so much better. It is better, but you are still not completely healed. There is no magic associated with 6 wks. Your incisions should be pretty well healed, but your body is still healing and you have to be careful to add things in a little at a time while you gain strength and those tissues continue to heal.
Don't panic yet. Continue to take it easy. Walking is a great thing to do to rebuild strength and help you see where you are energy-wise. Don't push past the natural limits your body sets for you and you should be feeling better each week.
I tired to cover several scenarios that could cause bleeding. I hope this is helpful to a lot of you.
 's, Rita

Light bleeding nearly 6 weeks post op
I had an LSH with no internal stitches (cauterization instead) -- and I am still bleeding after 3-1/2 weeks. Sometimes it's pale pink and sometimes it's bright red.

Light bleeding nearly 6 weeks post op
I am just past 5 wks post op, had a LSH. I have had a couple of spotting episodes; kept my cervix and ovaries. I call the dr as these followed a couple of times that I (foolish me) overdid it a bit - this last weekend, our basement was flooded due to recent storms, and wet towels are a little heavy.... anyhow, the dr. also reminded me that I could be having little cycles or mini periods and to track them. No cramps, just a light staining really. It increases a little if I have to at all strain for a BM. Sorry for the too much info! Anyone else experience that???

Light bleeding nearly 6 weeks post op
Hi Joan
I'm glad the bleeding has stopped. You are just about to your 8th wk,which is pretty early in the whole scheme of things. What you describe sounds very much like what I experienced at that point. It takes a while to build strength back and endurance for being on your feet and keeping up with a 'normal' schedule. I hope you can rest in the evenings as much as possible. Each week should get better, but being tired seems to be normal for most.
My bladder repair has done so well. I'm very glad I had it done. I did find that it seemed to take a long time to heal so it wasn't tender. I had to be careful with lifting or doing much of anything strenuous for several months. I felt that if it made me hurt it probably wasn't a good idea. It isn't unusual for full, complete recovery to take anywhere from six months to a year. I realized at about 8 months that I was feeling pretty normal. I was doing most everything I wanted to do, but I would sometimes notice pain and fatigue up until that time.
Each week you should find yourself feeling improved. Being up during the day could still cause some swelling of those tender tissues, which is what you might be feeling in your vagina now. If you continue to feel that stabbing you might want to ask your dr if there could be any stitches you are feeling. I found out when we resumed having sex that there were some knots to sutures that were scratching and had to be cut out. It wasn't any big deal, but I guess some of the suture material they use is like fishing line and takes longer to dissolve.
I hope you get to feeling stronger each week. Let us know how you do.
 's, Rita
