Side effects

Ive been taking premarin for three weeks and I love it. I have noticed some side effects that are really bugging me. Im nauseaus all the time and when I eat it hurts so bad. Also, My path report showed no endo but Im cramping pretty bad since the HRT. I have nothing left, tvh,bso so I cant figure whats still there to hurt.Anyway, I dont know anyone else on HRT so are these side effects to be expected or can I do better? Im happy with the relief of symptoms but I have two small children who need Mom and I cant focus on other things because of the pain in my stomach.
Thanks so much,
Ginny

Is this your first hrt since surgery? I just wanted to say, in general, it can take many weeks, if not months, to adjust to any new hormone or change in dose. It's maddening to have to ride out all the symtpoms that can be caused by fluctuating hormones, but worth the wait. It can be very helpful to keep a journal during these times. And, of course, if any symptom or side effect seems particularly worrisome, don't hesitate to call your doctor.

Good luck, and keep us posted!

Side effects

Hi Ginny!

Those are pretty miserable side effects if they are related to the use of Premarin. I think you should call your doctor to let him/her know what you are experiencing.

You could try taking the pill at a different time of day and try taking it with food. If you're taking it along with other medications, see if taking it at a different time of day without other medications would help. Sometimes a little change can make a big difference.

What dosage of Premarin are you on? If you are on a high dose, it may be causing nausea. Are you eating when you take the pill? If not, that could be causing the stomach pain. I was told that you should never take meds on an empty stomach unless the med needs to be (such as Prevacid). I would definitely contact your doctor if the pain continues or is bothersome. It may be something other than the Premarin. Could you possible have a bladder or yeast infection? Either could cause the cramping pain. When I get a bladder infection, I start having cramps. Don't know why but I do. All or some of these symptoms could be from the Premarin. I would talk to your doctor and see what he/she thinks. You may need to switch medications or dosages. Just my opinions. =) Praying you find relief soon!
