same as a c-section??

I am curious as what to expect. I was wondering if the after paina nd all are the same as a c-section. I think that is what has me sooo upset is I remember the pain of my c-sections.. My abnormal cells in my last pap was the final straw. I have a swollen uterus, terrible mestrual cycles and horrible pain. But now my cells are pre cancerous so I really dont feel like there are any other choices. I have had a tubal ligation, so I dont want any more kids. All in all I am overwhelmed and terrified!! I hate to be helpless!!

Not to scare you, but no it is not the same as a c-section. Babies are suppose to come and are not attached to your body like your uterus & ovaries. I was under the impression that it would be the same and I wasn't prepared for this. It does get better. I am 3 1/2 months post op and fine. Good luck!

same as a c-section??

I had a c-section - but I didn't have the full cut for my hyst (it was laparoscopic - 3 smaller incisions)... But the pain wasn't the same (as far as I can remember from 16 years ago)... But guess what - almost 3 months out - I"M SO HAPPY!!! I can hardly remember my recovery pain! So it's all worth it in the end! Best of luck to you! It will be fine! Keep in touch if you'd like!

same as a c-section??

Hey there. I wondered the exact same thing before my July 12th TAH w/ BSO. I've had 2 c-sections with over 10lb babies. I won't lie... it's different. The good things... the drugs are better and there is not another little life that needs you. Me ob/gyn says he WAY more liberal with pain meds for his hysterectomy patients because he knows that mom isn't 1) breastfeeding and 2) responsible for the care of an infant. There is also more feelings of compassion from friends and neighbors. They all feel like they had a baby and managed. Well, most of them have not had this surgery so they have been wonderful with meals and offers of diversions for my kids. With all that said... I am almost 5 weeks post op and I had IMMEDIATE relief when I woke up from the surgery. I felt like "wow - that's what I've been worrying myself sick over? I can handle this." The WAITING is BY FAR the HARDEST part. I had myself so freaked out. I hasn't been as bad as I imagined. I SWEAR to you. Stay busy getting your nest ready. You can do this. You NEED to do this. We are all sending you the very best wishes. It will not be as bad as you are making it in your mind. If you've been in pain and stressed from abnormal paps this is do-able. You will be FINE!
