Is slight "puckering" alongside the incision normal and will it flatten out?

I'm now nine days post TAH/BSO and the relatively slight swelling I had after surgery has gone down some and the bruising is fading nicely. But as it does, I'm noticing some slight puckering just around the incision, no signs of infection, all looks well otherwise. I have self-dissolving stitches. I'm glad to see that the incision (vertical) itself, although now red, will likely fade in time into a thin white scar. But will the skin around it ever return to normal/flatten out?

I still have a couple spots with the "pucker". After this long, I'm thinking mine won't flatten out.

Well, I hope it will flatten out but if it doesn't it won't be my first imperfection-- or my last one! And it was worth it just to be relieved of all the troubles associated with that 'ol uterus of mine!

I didn't have a problem with my hysterectomy scar, but I had a pucker on the scar below my wrist from a skin cancer. Took about 4 years, but it's gone now! Patience is a virtue?

Good question. I notice the same thing this evening when I showered. Puckered on both sides near the end of the incision, almost to the hip.
I too hope it flattenes out --in time.

It's still early for you....give it time. I, too, had a TAH/BSO with a vertical incision....6 inches going from my belly button, down. I also had some puckering and it took a while to go away...but it did eventually flatten out. I now (almost one year later) have a nice white, smooth, barely noticable scar. I also, like you, had self disolving stitches...all of which were inside. It takes a long time for all those to disolve...and when they do, your puckers will flatten. Be patient....it's still early. The redness on my scar took a long time to go away, also, but it eventually did. I do, however, still have two tiny little places that still get dry or scabby at the very end of my scar (down yonder).

I had some slight puckering at the bottom of my incision. They have flattened out. I think it was just swelling. Good luck!
