TAH, BSO recovery with 2 small children

I am 32 and have stage IV endo. Saw my doctor today and they are going to schedule me (soon) for a TAH, BSO (uterus, ovaries & cervix). My husband is in the military and is gone 7a -9p 5 days a week and 1/2 day on Saturday. We have a 2.5 year old and a 1yr old. Anyhow. . . what can I expect for the recovery. My husband may be able to take a week off and then we may be able to fly a friend out for another week. However, that is going to be the extent to the help (2 wks). Will I be able to care for my 2 young and active children after 2 wks? How will I feel when I get out of the hospital. Dr. said I should be in for 3 days.

Appreciate your help!

TAH, BSO recovery with 2 small children

I didn't have small children but do care for my grown DD who is physically handicapped ( cerebral palsy ). I had my DH do all the heavy stuff before he left for work each morning and that helped. But, I didn't have to chase young children. Do you have a closeby friend or neighbor that you can ask for help if needed? A church or community help group? Could you afford a day care for a few weeks?
I wasn't bedridden at all but was slow moving and had a lifting restriction of a few pounds for a few weeks.

Best wishes.

TAH, BSO recovery with 2 small children

I am in a simular delimea. I have a 5 yr and a 2yr. My husband works LONG hours. The 5yr will be at school so I need someone to get him ready and the 2yr is very very clingy to mommy. My husband is taking the first week and a half off, my brother who is in college down the street from us is coming over on Tuesdays and Thursdays, he is my regular baby sitter anyway. My mom is taking the first few days after the surgery off. She just started a new job and hasn't accrued any time yet. I am hoping by the end of week two I can "manage" with just my DD at home. I am going to cook and freeze meals since my husband is not what you would call talented in the kitchen. If it were up to him, we would eat bojangles every day, three times a day. Shop for easy things to prepare, pre cooked food so if you find your self at home, no energy with kids screaming " I am a hungry monster, feed me", you can have something easy for them. I am also cleaning the house from top to bottem and getting the laundry room husband friendly. Anything you can do to make it easier on them, will eventulally make it easier for you. My biggest worry is my 2 yr. She wants her momma. She likes my husband but is not his biggest fan! She doens't want him to do anything for her especailly at bed time. I told him it may be rough but it will bring them together. Do you have any close friends or family that can help?
