Question - Hot flashes and tingling in chest Hot flashes and tingling in chest

My hot flashes are proceeded by a tingling sensation that starts at my elbows and works up to my face, which then gets hot. There is a feeling of pressure as it moves up my chest. It is the same on both the right and left side. The heat in my face lasts a few minutes.

I'd like to know if anyone else has experienced this? I wonder if it is something other than a plain old hot flash, such as some kind of a heart problem.

I had a hysterectomy in 1981 at age 51. I took a mild dose of estrogen until a year ago, when I developed a pulmonary embolism and was put on coumadin, and taken off estrogen.

The hot flashes are actually less frequent and of shorter duration than when I was taking estrogen. The typical pattern is for it to occur when I return to bed after going to the bathroom, once or twice a night. I've only been aware of the tingling sensation for the last two or three months.

Any comments would be much appreciated.

Hot flashes and tingling in chest

Hello!

Enjoy exploring the site and meeting new friends! Princess Ruby linked several message boards which are good choices for members like you who are further post-op.

There are a lot of women who can't or choose not to use hormone therapy and you are welcome to join them on the No-Hormone Desert Oasis message board. Post a new thread there so anyone who can relate to what you're experiencing can reply. That said, I do hope you have contacted your doctor. Only your doctor can determine if what you are experiencing is cause for concern. Make that call if you haven't already, okay?

We look forward to getting to know you!
