Urine leakage at 8 weeks post op

I am 8 weeks post-op and doing well (TAH) but I have just started having some urine leakage during the day. I had asked my doc about the BSO but she told me that I didn't need it since I did not have problems. I am doing more exercise and I wonder if it is related to that. Will discuss with my doc at my annual in a few months but wondered if anyone else is having this issue?

Hi Carla

From the way you are describing this I think you mean you are having incontinence when you exercise. I had this before my surgery when I would cough or sneeze or jump or run, that type of thing. I think it makes sense that you might not notice the problem early on but with more activity it is showing itself.

There is another kind of leaking that just occurs with no provocation. The cause and the cure for the two are completely different.

Stress incontinence is very common and can often be helped by doing Kegal exercises. Mine was bad enough that I needed to have a bladder sling done with my hyst. It has been great for me. You need to talk to your dr about your symptoms and what can be done to help.

If you're dealing with more than stress incontinence let me know and I'll try to give you more information that will pertain to that problem.

If you need some help knowing how to do the kegals properly you can look on This Site . The site has changed but it is still one of the best and simplist explanations of how to do the exercises I have seen.

I hope this is helpful. Let us know what you find out.
's, Rita
