hospital stay?

i was wondering how long each of you stayed in the hospital after your hyst? i have to have it all removed, and i am afraid that they will try to push me out before i am ready. i have people to help me when i get home, but sometimes these people hurt more than help. i am afraid of not getting enough rest.

hospital stay?

Let your Dr know what kind of situation you are going home to. I was able to get out a day quicker because I wanted to. I had my surgery Friday morning and came home early Sunday evening. I had the pain under good control, and just needed to sleep, drink water, and take short trips to the bathroom. That's about all I did for a couple of days.

A lot of it depends on insurance coverage, but do let your Dr know what your situation is at home.

s and Best Wishes,
Kay

hospital stay?

I am planning on a TLH, taking everything, including ovaries and cervix on Sept. 5. My doctor said since I'm one of the first in the morning, I can decide that evening if I want to go home! After all I've read on these boards, I'm thinking I have a pretty progressive surgeon! I was surprised when he said I had a choice. I'd like to stay just because I always get so nauseous after anesthesia and he doesn't plan to start HRT right away. If I have a migraine or decide to opt for the HRT in the first 24 hours, I'd like to be handy to the source of relief instead of at home waiting for a call back from the Dr. office!

Best wishes!

hospital stay?

Yes, talk to your doctor. I stayed in 2 days with a LSH, but he told me up front if I needed more time her could get at least 4 days authorized.

I will have to say I felt great after mine I just had to watch how much I did becasue I tired easily and was sore, but no pain like I was in.

thank oyu all for your input.it is my husband's mother and father that are coming to stay at my home after surgery. i'll have to find a chance to tell my doc what is going on when hubby is not in the room so his feelings aren't hurt. i have really good insurance so i am hoping a couple days stay would be possible.

hospital stay?

I had my TVH yesterday at 7:30 and am home right now. I hate hospitals and don't sleep well in them because of noise, beeping IV machines, loud nurses, etc. My surgery was uneventful anyway so there was no reason to stay longer, but I think it all depends on your progress and how you feel. My Dr. would have let me stay longer if I had asked.

Good luck!

hospital stay?

I had a TAH/LSO on Fri Aug 17 and went home Sunday Aug 19. I got hardly any rest in the hospital. Nurses and aides came in every 3 hrs to medicate, take vitals, etc. So I was glad to get home where I could actually rest. ANd boy have I. Went in for my 1-wk post op visit today and she told me I was doing great. Even said I could drive if I felt like it.

Good luck with your surgery!!
