I'm from Oregon to!

I'm from Southern Oregon, Medford to be exact. I just found this site recently, after my doctor informed me that fibroids are causing my symptoms and recommended a vaginal hysterectomy. Still not sure that is the best option for me, as my bleeding, cramps, etc aren't that bad yet. But I'm not sure I should wait until I am totally incapacited and the fibroids are too large to do it vaginally. It came as quite a shock to me as I had never had problems with my periods, no cramps or anything until the last year or so.

Anyone else from Oregon?

Hi

I have been to Medford a few times. I love it there. I am from the coast near Coos Bay/North Bend.

I am having a hyst due to prolapsed uterus and cystocele and rectocele repairs. It is set for July 20th.

If you aren't positive about having a hysterectomy at this time...try the hysterectomy alternatives and options message board. I have not been there but there may be women there who have been through your situation and can help.

Thanks for posting and I hope things go well for you however you decide. keep in touch.

Anyone else from Oregon?

Hi Biffer,

Hey...I know where Tigard is. My step-daughter lives there. I actually love the Portland area. Wish we could move there but doesn't seem like a possibility at the moment.

I hope both you ladies keep in touch here. I will post and let you know how my surgery goes. Getting a little nerve racking the closer it gets.

Smile - Anyone else from Oregon? Portland here

I am from Portland. I had my TAH the day of the earthquake that shook Olympia and Seattle among other places around Puget Sound. I had been out of surgery over an hour and was totally zoned out in the recovery room when I felt the earthquake. I got another scare another few minutes later when the nurse accidentally hit my gurney. Fortunately, no damage was reported at the hospital. Even my gyn was in the OR, operating on another woman, when the quake occured.

I have been to Medford numerous times during our frequent trips to California. We sometimes stay at Grants Pass overnight, depending on our traveling. My family has spent several Labor Day weekends in Medford just to get some sun.

lol Java

I'll admit, I feel sometimes like this is an earth shattering experience but an earthquake...oh my!!! That had to be something.

I have been to Portland many times. I love it up there.

Keep in touch all you Oregonians.

My surgery is a week from today....YIKES!

Anyone else from Oregon?

Hi Susan,

Wow, I was only about 20 minutes away from you yesterday. My husband and I took a pickup load of stuff up to my son who is moving into an apartment in Monmouth. He is going to WOU and will be a junior there next year. He found out last year that in order to get one of the better apartments (better price and location) you have to rent early. He has a job on campus for the summer. This is the first summer he hasn't came home to live and that has been kind of a tough adjustment for me...not him. He loves it up there.

Take care and keep in touch.
