Headed for D&C, biopsy, fibroid removal, and possible ablation
Hello all,
I am back from my pelvic exam which wasn't pleasant at all. My doctor thinks that instead of doing a biopsy to find out why all the heavy bleeding that we need to go about this in a different way.
She wants me to go to an outpatient office where I will be under general anesthesia, have a D & C, they will look at all the tissue, and remove the fibroid. She also suggested an endometrial ablation. ( Thermachoice ). She said she does not like the Novasure, and neither did the hospital and wouldn't buy the equipment.
I have my surgery scheduled for the end of October and am terrified.
Does anyone know anyone that has had success with the Thermachoice?
Good news though, no catheter!

Should mention, thanks for all in advance for your responses. I will be away this weekend and will check reponses when I get back. I'm eager to hear what others have to say about the Thermachoice.
I'm hoping this is normal, but now being at the tail end of the period after just having the pap test I'm now bleeding heavier and cramping also.
I'm hoping this is normal. UGH. Just a way to further ruin the 3rd weekend in a row for me.

Hi, onesillychic,
I had an ablation (but not Thermachoice) done in June 2005 which ultimately hasn't controlled my bleeding and pain. However, some women have had positive results, so it is worth a try. You may want to check out this website for more info:

As far as the afterwards, I had a day or so of pretty bad cramps, which were well controlled with the pain meds they gave me. I also had some soreness in the vaginal area, which went away gradually. Really the recovery time was not bad at all. The procedure itself was easy because I was asleep... as you will be. I know you're worried but the anticipation itself is probably the most difficult part.

Thanks Lysippe,
I think waiting will be the worst part. My doc did mention that I would have more cramping after the procedure w/ my periods. But if I don't have 24+ day periods and they are lighter, it might be worth the tradeoff. LOL
Thanks
