will my orgasms be the same?
I am having a Davinci total hyst on October 17. The thing I am worried about is if the orgasms will feel the same once we start having sex again. It seems to me that part of the pleasurable feeling comes from contractions in the uterus and if it is gone.......does it then feel different? I know this seems silly but I like my orgasms they way they are...........just worried.

will my orgasms be the same?
Jeri,
I too had a DaVinci hyst, I too had pleasurable uterine contractions.
Please bear in mind that I have not yet been cleared for full intercourse.. but...
the orgasms I have had from manual or oral stimulation have not been the same. They are still good, and they are satisfying.. but very different. My tummy still jumps with the sensation.. but deep inside, I don't feel the contractions. I do miss it. I cried the first time I had an orgasm and I couldn't feel anything in the area where my uterus used to be.
I'm hoping that penetration will help some, but I'm trying to prepare myself for the possibility that it probably will not.
I hate to tell you anything discouraging, but cannot lie about something so important to a fellow sister.
There is also some numbness to the vaginal area.. espescially noticeable near the entrance to the vagina. This is slowly resolving.. or else I don't notice it as much now.
I'll answer any question about my DaVinci experience to the best of my ability.
Best of luck on your surgery.

Mine are actually better. Sex and orgasms were so painful, that not having all those parts made everything better. We are all different, so only time will tell for you. My experience is that everything is better, more intense.

will my orgasms be the same?
Basically, from reading the boards for 3 months now, it seems that the consensus is that if sex was painful before surgery.. afterwards it's improved.
If sex was not painful before surgery, afterwards it can still be good, be changed or be a disaster.
Just my opinion and observation.

will my orgasms be the same?
Well that is interesting because I am having my surgery because of abnormal bleeding due to fibroids......6 week periods are just not acceptable, ya know? I get anemic and to stop it, I to take prometrium. I am on 200 mg a day and I could sleep my life away it makes me so tired. I would still like to hear from others. Thanks for the comments so far.

will my orgasms be the same?
I'm having mu hyst on Tuesday. I know it will be quite some time before I'm cleared to have sex but I am also worried about it not ever being the same. I am having everything taken out due to cervical cancer. My dr thought is would be best to go ahead and take the ovaries. I'm only 31 and shouldnt have to worry about never having a normal sex life again. I have no idea what to expect, and I imagine the worst.

will my orgasms be the same?
Are you abosolutely certain they're uterine contractions? I was very nervous before my TLH and talked to my doctor about it. Based on my description she told me that I was having vaginal contractions and that it wouldn't change. TMI warning - stop reading if you're squeemish! At 10 days post op I couldn't wait any longer. I had to know. So, after hubby went to work (if it hurt I didn't want him to feel bad) I tried by myself and I'm happy to report that it's still the same for me. However, my contractions are so strong - possibly stronger now - that I think I might have popped a stitch. Going to call the doc on Monday.
My advice: talk to your doc about your concerns and don't do anything until they say you're ready. I've also read that if you do have uterine contractions, if they are able to leave your cervix that that preserves some of the sensation.

God Bless You Jen!! Thank You, Thank You, for your honesty. Let's face it, this is not a topic everyone is comfortable talking about, but I just had to ask and I am so glad you posted....you sound just like me......LOL Thinking the worst is so much easier then considering other possibilities. I honestly had not consider that thought, I just assumed, but your right I don't really know. But I know I like it and don't want to lose it. hugs!

will my orgasms be the same?
I had my cervix and my iterus removed, not my ovaries, though. Also, my surgery was LAVH.
Though I have some complications, which have caused some irritations, I can safely say that the 'contractions' I was sure wre uterine, might not have been, after all... I actually made notes, the day before my surgery, delailed notes about how the sensation spread, and how it felt, where I felt it and so on.
When I was able to post surgically, I repeated the same proceedure, and then looked at my notes and compared them. As I said, aside from the irritations caused by my surgery and complications, which will pass, to be honest, my orgasms are the same, or better even. I did not have severe complications with sex, but I could sometimes have cramps in my uterus, or somehow things did not feel correct, post orgasmically.
Every woman is very different though, both in how they respond to the physical side of orgasms, and the mental side of them...
Though it may be hard, try to keep an outlook that allows you to remember that post-surgically, your sexuality is not damaged due to the removal of your uterus. If you do experience some physical complication, at least your mental sexuality will remain unscathed hopefully, and you will be able to overcome the obstacles, if they appear...

will my orgasms be the same?
I am very positive mine were uterine contractions. I know because the first orgasm I had after a c/section 20 years ago was very painful.. I wasn't fully healed yet and the uterine contractions were so painful I was curled up into a ball and holding the left side of my incision over my uterus. This was at 4 weeks and with oral sex.
