?? About Going Off B/C Pills?????

I've always had headaches with my cramping and bloating and general pain!

I just stopped taking my continuous b/c pills last week when I ran out........surgery is October 22nd. My headaches this week have been AWFUL......could that possibly be from stopping the birth control pills, does anyone know?

Thanks,
Christine

?? About Going Off B/C Pills?????

Christine,

I have heard of hormone-exacerbated migraine headaches. Not sure if it's the lack of BCP or maybe, possibly, stress?

I would probably give the doc a call. They may be able to help, because while Oct. 22 is close, it's also a long time to deal with a bad headache.

?? About Going Off B/C Pills?????

Hey Christine,

I just called my surgeon's office (because I wanted to know if I should stop my BC pills, too) and they said that they wanted me to take them up until the day after surgery. So I would think that a call into your doctor would be the thing to do. I hate to think you're going to suffer all that time!

?? About Going Off B/C Pills?????

Hey, thanks.

Last time I saw her, she told me to take them until 2 weeks before the surgery. My current pack ran out and it seemed silly to refill for 2 weeks worth.......but I will call and see what they want me to do.

Thanks again!

I would strongly suggest that you call your Dr. My main concern is the risk of becoming pregnant.

Headaches can be caused by hormone fluctuations, so it seems likely to me that it could be the reason. However, there are also other reasons, and that is another good reason to call.

Let us know what your Dr says.

s,
Kay

?? About Going Off B/C Pills?????

Thanks for your concern everyone!

Just got off the phone with doctor's office. Nurse said I should be ok going off b/c (no chance of me getting pregnant, btw, other medical reasons)......just to be careful of the heavy bleeding, which has been pretty bad for the last two days, don't want to become anemic right before surgery!!! She said if it doesn't slow down by Wednesday or gets worse before then, to call them back.

She wasn't sure about the headaches, could be coming off the b/c, could be stress, could be a combination of things. Fortunately, I am able to manage it ok with 800mg of Ibuprofen (at least until I can't take that anymore)!!

Again, thanks for all your comments and concern! I love it here!!
