Any sisters in their 20's?

I am 26 and had my hysterectomy on 9/20. I was just wondering if there are any others in my boat. It is kind of surreal having this done at such a young age- I am going around having hot flashes while my friends are battling menstrual cramps!

Thanks,
Jennifer

Any sisters in their 20's?

Hey...I'm 27 still trying to book the surgery. Battling the "age" factor right now. I'll be there soon, strange to say hopefully, but honestly I'm looking forward to the hot flashes over this!

I know what you mean, I was looking forward to surgery too ( I am so grateful it is finally over with!) I think sometimes my pre-op pain was greater than my post-op pain. Good luck with scheduling surgery. I got lucky. My doctor had treated my mother for severe endo and he saw how bad mine was 6 months ago after a lap, so he refused to do anything else to treat it besides a hyst. Also, it helped that I knew I was done having kids- my DH had been snipped.

24

I'm 24 and going to have mine done on 12/12.

I've had 2 laps for endo, done bcp, lupron, etc and nothing helps. I told my dr i was ready for a hysterectomy and he referred me to a counselor that talked with me for an hour to decide if i was really ready for the surgery. He told me I was and wrote a letter to my dr.

I'm looking forward to mine just like y'all are. Any of you not have kids yet?

Any sisters in their 20's?

Hi I am Kati. I had one 10 days ago. My circumstances for having a hysterectomy are kinda different. I went in Dec 21 to have a c-section and came out of surgery without a uterus. I had placenta previa and the placenta grew into the uterus. I had too much bleeding for them to stop. I was sad just because it was not my decision to make but it was the best decision. Now I am habing to deal with the extra recovery pain.

Any sisters in their 20's?

Hey, It is nice to meet all of you. Really glad to find others who are close to the same age.

I am 26 and just had my hyst one week ago tomorrow. It was a very hard thing for me because I was not done having kids. (We have one)

I had a lap in 10-06 for endo. Pain came back within 3 weeks tried every kind of BC and then Lupron. Last option was hyst. Dr. got in there and found Adenomyosis but no more endo. So took uterus but left both ovaries (which I am very thankful for!!)

I am, doing pretty good with the exception of lack of support from back home. My Dr is out of state and my DH stayed home. He actually slept through my surgery and when my best friend finally called three days later she likened what I was going through to the vaginal birth of her second child.

I know that they do not mean to seem heartless but they just really have a hard time understanding

Anyway was glad when I saw this thread. Look forward to getting to know you all

Any sisters in their 20's?

I am 28 I had mine done on Feb 12, 2008. I too wasnt done with having kids.

In 1999 I had a c-section, well 5yrs later I was in a lot of pain, so my doc did the usuall check for endo. and cysts with lap. well she couldnt see anything so on Oct 11, 2004 she reopened my c-section scar and what she found was a blue towel. Yes a blue towel, well from then on things went down hill for me.

All of my insides were like mush, she said when she did the surgery this time, I would have never been able to have another child anyway. The pain post-op was nothing compared to what it was pre-op. So I am glad I made the decision to have it.

But I too was wondering if anyone out there was having the age issue I was. I hope to get to know you all.

Hi everyone!

I hope all of you are doing well :-)

I am 29 and had a radical abdominal hysterectomy on April 14, 2008. Mine was due to adeno Cervical Cancer. I didn't have the pain that all of you ladies had to go through. My husband and I didn't have the chance yet to decide on children and now I won't have the option to carry one myself. However, I was able to keep my ovaries so hopefully I'll be okay with hormones.

I know it's hard to think that at our young age we'll be "OK" but everyone must stay positive and be there to support one another. :-)
