What did you use for pain control b4 surgery?

My surgery isn't scheduled for another few weeks. I'm in horrible pain every day. I take motrin and tylenol but they don't seem to help. I use the heating pad as often as I can. I'm having the TAH because of suspected adeno. Any suggestions would be appreciated

I would suggest calling your doctor to see what you can take. Two weeks prior to my surgery, I was only allowed to take Tylenol because Motrin, Naproxen, NSAIDs, and ibuprofin products can thin the blood and inhibit blood-clot formation.

Give your doctor a call. I hope you feel better soon!

I second Deb's comment. Please check with your doctor before taking anything - many over-the-counter drugs/supplements/herbs we take every day can cause serious complications with surgery.

I have awful sinus problems and frequent migraines and in the 2 weeks before my surgery, I was only allowed tylenol (Acetaminophen) to relieve my symptoms.

Best wishes to you!!

I had been taking Darvocet or hydrocodone. They told me to limit the ibuprofen, but I could take my pain meds up until midnight the night before surgery (and I did). I did have an LSH, but was under general anesthesia. I guess it just depends on your doctor and, perhaps, the type of surgery.
Good luck. I could not have rested a bit without the pain meds (I, too, had adeno and a little endo)

Check with your doctor but I was also allowed to take Tylenol before hand.

I was on percocet for 3 months untill my surgery. I don't understand why doctors think the other stuff works. I think only pain pills help the pain. I went to the dentis and they gave me viconden for a tooth ach now that is crazy!

Amen to that princess48! I also was on percocet. It depends on your pain level, on a scale from 0 as in none to 10 as the worse. If your pain is higher than a 5 than you might need something stronger than Tylenol or Motrin. Ask your DD. you have a month before your surgery and you should not have to suffer in pain. Good Luck!
