Help! Odd symptoms

Hi all! I had a LSH on May 21. Since then, I have had diarrhea among other things. In keeping a diary, I noticed it happens shortly after I eat. Is it possible there is damage to my stomach or Vagus nerve that is causing gastric dumping? The diarrhea is causing me to dehydrate terribly.
I am also lightheaded, have lost weight (though not significant amounts), and have little to no appetite. I'm not complaining about the weight and appetite as I need to lose weight. But smells are also more intense and can make me nauseated. I'm just not me and I would think things would have settled almost back to normal 5 months later. Any ideas, suggestions or help would certainly be appreciated!
Thanks,
Kelly

Help! Odd symptoms

Hiya Kelly!
I started having gastric problems a few months after my hyst (my gall bladder was removed 2 weeks after the hyster). Last week (yes, it's taken them just over a year!) I had a colonoscopy/endoscopy with biopsies and am waiting for the results. I was told in recovery that my bowel is behaving in a very IBS way ... they said it is possible,if your bowel is already quite sensitive, for the bowel to get more sensitive and develop IBS after the surgery, although I havn't seen that opinion floating around too much. I would definitely get booked in to see your doctor. See what they say. Take good care and keep drinking plenty of water ... I keep a glass near the tap in the kitchen and drink at least a glassful every time I go in.

Clare xx

PS Sorry, forgot to say ... some of the meds I have been on pre and post-op may have contributed to gastritis .. eg anti-inflamms. I'll know for sure when the results are back. Take care. x

symptoms

Hi,

I too had these symptoms, but before my hyst. I had a colonoscopy which looked fine according to the doc. But, when the pathology report came it showed collagenous colitis. There is medication and diet to treat this chronic condition. Mine is under control with diet and my daily use of flax seed-if I stop using it daily my symptoms come right back. You should call your for an appointment to figure out what is wrong. I went straight to a gastroenterologist.
