It does get better, I promise!
It's been 2 1/2 years since my hysterectomy and I had a lot of odd healing problems - on top of the regular post op issues - so that I often wondered if I would ever return to normal.
I'm here today to say, "Yup, it sure does". For me it got better when I learned to accept my new body and not fight the post-op symptoms. I learned to meditate. I decided that I didn't have to weigh as much as I gained post-op - and learned to diet and exercise and lost 35 pounds - including my flabby stomach.
So no matter what you're feeling now, please know, dear Sisters, that life is good - and it will be again for all of you.

What did you do to lose the weight and the belly?
Thanks for this post. I'm working really hard on trying to just accept that my body is different and certain things will be different in my life.
At this point no HRT and my emotions are all over the place.

Well, I first had to admit to myself that the weight I had put on was my own doing - e.g., not the result of the hysterectomy.
When I reached the point that I didn't want to look like I did - and decided to see if there was anything I could do about it I reverted to two things that have always worked for me in the past....eat less and exercise more. I signed up for Weight Watchers on line and entered everything I put in my mouth. And I started to swim (I actually use a snorkel and mask as I have breathing problems). Now I swim 4-5 miles a week and I feel great - and as if I have actually accomplished something after every effort.
I do crunches, too. But losing the weight went a long way to getting rid of my jelly-belly. I don't have a 6 pack, but I have a lot less than before - even less than some of the young girls you see walking around with their stomachs hanging over their waistbands.
I'm 61 years old. And am happy - and soooo glad I had the hysterectomy. I really don't think about it anymore.
