Has anyone with endo still have the endo pain after their hysterectomy?
I had my tvh/bso 3 weeks ago today and I am STILL having some pain off and on. Usually it is worse at night. I am also having some of the same endo pain that I had before the surgery, mostly just really bad cramping. I am not quite sure if it IS the endo but it is some of the same pain. I had adeno, endo and both ovaries full of cysts, which were later found with pre-cancerous cells in both. I was wondering if anyone has had a hysterectomy and still had the endo pain and what was done about it? ie, more surgery? Obviously he removed the adeno by removing the uterus but did not remove any of the endo which he said was clear and red and everywhere but mostly in my uterus and on my ovaries but I know there is STILL some there. I hate the thought of it not getting any better and having to go through a 3rd surgery. Thanks for any input you can give!!!!

Hi Pam,
You say you are "still" having pain at 3 weeks post TVH. Actually, 3 weeks is the stage when many women are starting to feel more pain. This is because your countless internal stitches are starting to dissolve, leaving weakened tissues to take over. New sensations may come from "nowhere".
Because of this, it may be too soon to worry that your endo is causing the pain. A gyn has said that the 3-5 week period is the most fragile time of recovery. Have you been taking it VERY easy, or have you stepped up your activities? If you rest a lot OFF your feet and pamper yourself, you may feel quite a bit better by the end of the 6-8 weeks.
You are still early in your recovery. TOTAL healing in there will take at least 6 months to a year, according to another gyn. If this really bothers you, you might want to call your Dr. and discuss it with him for your own peace of mind. If you do, please let us know what he says.
My very best to you...
Linda

Has anyone with endo still have the endo pain after their hysterectomy?
Hi Pam,
Are you on HRT by chance? If you are and he left endo, it could be feeding off of that. I did a lot of research into endo before my surgery and found lots of articles relating the two. I am opting out of HRT for at least 6 months to make sure that the endo I had removed doesn't reoccur, and my DR did remove all endo she could find. I would give your DR a call to see if you two can figure out whats going on. Or like Linda said it could be healing. But with anything if you have doubt, best to call the DR.
