Anyone with vaginal dryness?

Hey gals,

I'm 8 weeks post op, total abdominal/BSO. I was wondering if anyone has any advice for the vaginal dryness and itching. My doctor doesn't want to use and cream at this time to give the estrogen pills a little more time to get into my system. Any advice?

Anyone with vaginal dryness?

I was experiencing vaginal dryness prior even prior to my hysterectomy (and still am), so tried several different lubricants. My boyfriend and I have decided that we prefer the KY warming lubricant.

I have been experiencing some issues with that, before and since surgery.
By your doctor not wanting you to use any cream, does that mean no lubricant either?
There are huge differences between them.
1) talk to you doctor about the dryness, and especially the itchiness.
2) if he/she says that lubricants are okay (KY, astroglide etc) then apply a very small amount at the vaginal opening to relieve some of that itchiness.

Have you been cleared to resume intimacy? Is this when you are experiencing some of this dryness? Foreplay would usually help with this. Also, if you are thinking "this isn't going to work because I am too dry" then it won't.

Talk to you doctor about allowable supplements.

Hoping you will be feeling better soon

Anyone with vaginal dryness?

Thanks for the info. I am "cleared" to resume sex and am having no difficulties in that department. Actually my dr. said to try an OTC lubricant first, before a prescription cream. She just wants to see if my estrogen helps out first. Just wanted to check with everyone to see if this is a normal symptom after surgery. Take care.

Anyone with vaginal dryness?

I to am having a few problems. I get turned on and wet but when he gets 'In' I start to dry up and then i feel like I'm grazed inside. I could understand it if I wasn't getting wet at all but when it happens when he's In there I just seems weird. I love my hubby dearly and have always enjoyed sex but this is starting to put me off. I also had a vaginal bleed 4 weeks ago after sex and noone could find any reason why. I was thinking of trying a lubricant but i don't know if that will work. I'm 6 months post op TAH but kept ovaries.

Anyone with vaginal dryness?

Vaginal dryness has been an ongoing problem for me. I am now 5 months post op and we still have to use a lubricant during sexual intercourse. I have tried several brands/types of lubricants and found that Astroglide works really well for me/us. I was very happy to have found something that helps, but disappointed things haven't returned to normal. I also tried different hormone doses (I'm on the Vivelle Dot) to see if that would make a difference, but it didn't. Perhaps your physician would be willing to let you try a lubricant? Worth asking about. Again, I tried several before I found one that I liked.

you might want to try over the counter replens and see if that helps. also, i assume your dr checked you for an infection? i thought i was dry but i had a yeast infection followed by a bacterial infection. once they were cleared up, that dry feeling went away. just a thought to double check on an infection with a vaginal swab. hope you feel better soon.
