Abdominal Hyst & Vag. Bladder Repair
Scheduled for Nov. 6,2007. It is actually 2 surgeries at once. Abdominal hysterectomy then bladder repair. I'll be trussed up from the front to back, then side-to-side, then at least one sling, maybe more from what I read on the doctor's orders. Has anyone had "work done on both ends"?

I had an abdominal hysterectomy
I had an abdominal hysterectomy and a bladder sling/repair. Both at the same time. This is probably very common to do the procedures at the same time. I don't think they did it on both ends though. It was done while he was doing the hysterectomy abdominally.

Abdominal Hyst & Vag. Bladder Repair
Hi Kaarren, I had a TAH and a bladder lift at the same time. They tacked my bladder up by tacking it up to ligaments, it was supposed to be a MMK procedure, where they tack it up to the pelvic bone, but they changed their minds during surgery. At the time I was not so sure that I made the right decision to have both done at the same time, however: I am now really glad that I did all together - only one healing. The recovery was a little longer and I had bladder issues for a while after the surgery, but I fell so much better. I can now cough w/o fear of drenching myself. LOL. When sneezing I still have to cross my legs~it is still necessary.
Will your urologist do the surgery at the same time as your ab. Hyst? From a healing and comfort level you might want to inquire about it.

Abdominal Hyst & Vag. Bladder Repair
My gyno is to do both surgeries. I think it is best to heal just once too. He said that it was for sure to have to do the TAH first because my uterus is bicornate. (It has 2 chambers rather than just one.) That's the only thing holding it up, everything else has fallen!
Thanks for the reply, & glad you are OK now.
