Gas pains or what???

Anyone else still having gas pains a couple months out from surgery? I'm in week 11 and still getting really sharp pains that I'm associating with gas pains. Nothing like I've ever had before surgery. Sometimes a little cramp (well, that's the best comparison I can make) will cause sharp stabbing pain in my lower left abdomen then it will shoot into my hip or sometimes into my lower back. I've mentioned them to both of my docs (gyn and general surgeon who did bowel repair) and neither seems worried. Gyn just keeps reminding me that it is the side from which she did all of her work through the laproscopy tube and then couple that with having my whole stomach stretch out to repair the bowel injury... But, holy cow, how long can this possibly last?? Anyone else having similar problems? If so, are you finding any relief at all?
thanks!

Gas pains or what???

Are you running any fever with the pains? I had LAVH on 9/10/07 and seemed to be recovering normally but still had a lot of the same gas pains you're describing. It progressively got worse and after an ultrasound and CT scan at week 5 I ended up having to go back in for another surgery on 10/16/07 to clean out a seroma/infection. Several days of antibiotics and finally a shot of another antibiotic and I'm finally starting to feel better. Eleven weeks may be far enough out from surgery that there's no more risk of this but listen to your body if something just doesn't feel right. Hope you feel better soon!!!

Gas pains or what???

No fever or any feeling that would indicate an infection, thank goodness. I would hope that I was far enough along in the process that I wouldn't have to worry about that anymore. Besides, I took so many antibiotics after I got home that I can't imaging any bacteria living in my body at all!
My instinct tells me its gas. I'm just wondering if it is something that others have experienced for this long or if it has something to do with my bowel repair. Ever since the surgery I get gas pains in weird places. I haven't seen the surgery notes yet so I don't know if they pulled out long loops of my intesting to check them or what. Anyway, TMI. I'll hope that someone else posts with additional news.
Thank you ladies for your replies. I wish you all speedy uneventful recoveries
