slight bloody discharge 3 weeks post -op?

I started having small spotting at my 3 weeks post -op. Has anyone else had this and contacted their doctor to see if this was normal?

Hi (((twobtrue))) Everyone's different... some women never spot at all, and I bled heavily for the first few days and then tapered off to spotting for about six weeks post op. There was a slight increase at week 5, when I noticed a couple of bits of thread (stitches) on my panty liner.

I'd call your DR and check just to be sure, but it may be that your stitches are starting to dissolve.

s,

I didn't spot until about 2 1/2 weeks and it was completely normal. I think it has to do with the stitches starting to dissolve. It lasted until about 5 1/2 weeks. As long as it is just spotting it is ok. If it is heavy like a period or worse please call your doctor. Hope you feel better.

Thanks, yeah its not that bad. And it comes and goes. Yesterday I was out with my daughter. She needed to run to the drs. and the hospital for some minor tests. I think I over did it just by walking alot. I rested the rest of the day. Hope your feeling better too.

I am 6 weeks and still occasionally have spotting. I had my six week check up 2 days ago and he said I am still healing (was not released for lifting, sex ) and I may experience spotting for 2 to 4 more weeks. It has certainly gotten lighter and is not everyday now (i see it if i do alot). He said I do not have a granulation at this point but we will watch out. Sometimes people experience spotting due to tissue granulation and your doc may have to "freeze" that spot to help healing.

were you released for work? And were you put on light duty? I do alot of lifting , pushing, puling, reaching, you name it at my job. I am wondering when I go in on my 6th week if he will give me light dutyor not. I guess everyone is different and it depends on how healed you are at the time of your appointment.

I am post op 7 weeks and I had slight brown spotting for about 5 weeks. Surgeon said it would last 6 weeks. After the 5th week I had yellow staining. I read on this site that that was the stitches disolving. My surgeon saw me at 2 weeks and then told me to go to my gyno at 12 weeks. Now at the beginning of the 7th week it seems the brown spotting and yellow staining have gone away.

twobtrue,
I only work part time and I work as a social worker so no lifting etc. So I can work. But, yes everyone heals differently. And it is funny because at my two week he did an internal (to check on spotting) and then he said I was healing fast ...then I don't know, maybe I did too much and my healing slowed. Listen to your body!

Funny..I haven't even had a post-op with my Dr. yest and I am almost 4 weeks out. I have an apt. for 11-5-07 and that will be the first time I will see him since the surgery on 10-8-07. I figured I would of seen him before now. I do have another apt. for 11-19-07, the final one that hopefully releases me for work.
