Blood in urine!
I started this in the endo forum, but someone said I could probably get more help here. There's a few updates from the other post.
I will try to keep this short! I had a total vaginal hysto except for my ovaries back in 2003 because of endo and an enlarged tilted uteruous. Everything has been good except fir the past year. I started getting frequent UTI's and now blood in my urine, and elevated white blood cells. I've had a gallbladder scan, and kidney CT. They said no stones at all. My gyno says he wants to rule out all these things before he goes in to see if the endo is back. I have severe pain that comes and goes in my right flank area, which seems to be the kidney. I'm going to see a Kidney specialist this Wed. Can something give me some suggestions as to what can cause blood in the urine and pain in the flank area? Could it be endo on my kidney or bladder?
Thanks to you all
UPDATE 10-24
I went to the Urologist today (WED) and they found blood in my urine again. They are sending it out to the lab. They described it as kind of like a pap smear but on the blood instead of the cervix. So that made sense. I'm also having an IVP (Intravenous Pyelogram) and an Cystoscopy so they can look in my bladder and uretha. He said my cat scan looked fine but said it doesn't look inside the kidney and bladder. He asked me if this pain was similar to the endometreosis when I had it and I said no, This is much much worse than even having children! I'm glad their running all these test, but I have a feeling I'll be going back for a laporscopy for endo. Although the blood in the urine has me most concered, and the pain!
10-27
Update I am having an ultrasound this Wed on Halloween on my kidneys. Also the blood in my urine was okay for the bladder, but they said the other test won't be in from the lab until later this week, so I guess my bladder is okay? Then where is the blood coming from! So they can tell where the blood is coming from just by looking under a microscope? I've never heard of that. They also said the blood was a #2 on a scale of one to three.

Blood in urine! -- Update -- Test results are back!
I always have blood in my urine as well from my Interstitial Cystitis. My urogyn has said that if anyone else runs a UA to forwarn them that blood may show up and to not assume UTI unless a culture is run or bacteria shows up. Good luck with everything! And keep us posted....btw...where in Ohio are you from?

Blood in urine! -- Update -- Test results are back!
Hi April
I hope they figure out what is causing all your pain and hope whatever it is can easily be fixed. Try not to panic, as there are many things that can cause blood in the urine. Some big issues, some not, and sometimes they never learn why.
I will sometimes get grossly bloody urine with a UTI, but even when I don't have symptoms or infection I still have occult hematuria. It's been that way for 20 years now. My initial work-(up way back then) didn't find a reason for the flank pain I'd been having, but did find bladder inflammation.
I did have endo on my bladder @ the time of my hyst, but not when I had recurrent endo excised last year.
My GYN & GP are referring me for a full work-up again because they are not comfortable with blood in every sample and such an outdated work-up, plus some recent bloodwork showed a potential problem with my kidney function.
You have a lot going on. Bless your heart. I hope you get some answers and some relief. Good luck with the remainder of your tests. I dread having another cystoscopy but that's because I am very modest. Most women are pleasantly relieved to find the cysto much easier than they anticipated it to be. I hope you do well with it too.
Best wishes & gentle s to you,
 Beth

Blood in urine! -- Update -- Test results are back!
Thank You Beth for the kind words. It has been really tough these last few months, and this past month has been the worst. I finally got Darvocet to help with some of the pain, but it just takes the edge off, and I hate taking pain meds. I do have a feeling it's something with the bladder. When I'm awake I got to the bathroom once or twice and hour, and I always have pressure down there. Thanks again for being so supportive, it's so nice to have people to talk to that really truly understand because they're been through it themselves. Good luck to you too.

Update my Ultrasound and Urine results are in
I just spoke to the nurse at the Urologist office. She said the urine sample was negative for neoplastic cells (I think cancer) which is great. She also said that the citology test was negative on my kidneys. (sounds good) But said that I had small bladder residual, (I guess where the bladder doesn't empty completly. They moved my IVP & Cystoscopy for this Thurs, so wish me luck and I hope they find something that is repairable, I don't want anything bad I just want answers and the pain to go away.
Hugs

Hi APril!
SO you got two bits of good news! Good for you! Did they say how much residual you had? My dr said anything under 100 is good.
Good luck with the cysto and IVP...

Blood in urine! -- Update -- Test results are back!
Thanks so much. I'm not sure what the number was but she said a small amount. Does it matter how much? I mean if it's more is that bad? I was just wondering. I did some research on the net, so it sounds like no Cancer or tumors, but where is the blood and pain coming from. It doesn't answer that question. Who knows, maybe I will find out with my test Friday.
Hugs and good luck to you too.
