Tension headaches

Is anyone havine tension headaches? I am 3 weeks post op, the headaches feel like sinus headaches, but I found out they are tension. But I don't feel tensed. Has anyone felt this way. Help I am not going to take my estrogen tonight to see if that helps. Sleeping last night was pretty hard, even with ambien. Does a glass of wine help to ease the tension.

Tension headaches

Is a tension headache like a migrane or hormone headache? I got them a few times when I had too much estrogen or when I was going off estrogen. It seem if I have too much estrogen I get more anxious. I'm super senitive to medication. I've tried wine to relax and works for a while and then it starts wearing of and I get more anxious. How weird is that?

I do recall getting headaches when I came home from the hospital. I never did find out what caused them but I think it was a lack of estrogen. I had a total hysterectomy and I wasn't on HRT. I think they lasted a few weeks and finally went away. Be careful with the wine if you are on pain meds. I think I might have taken some tylenol for a while but then the headaches went away on their own.

Good luck so far with OTC hormone creams

Hi ladies,
I'm five weeks post op (LSH/BSO) - 47 years old. I was very afraid of headaches -- more than hot flashes, etc. I began on Enjuvia 1.25, then down to half. Still had a headache -- to Vivelle Dot 1, then to .5 -- still had a headache, so...ripped it off and began to feel much better.
I have had very good luck with over the counter estrogen and progesterone creams. I first tried Dr. Randolph's products online (not sure if I can give the website, but feel free to pm me if interested. And then I found Sarati products (another website -- free shipping and the prices are a little lower) and they have an estrogen/progesterone blend (estradiol/estriol and progesterone). I began using it a couple of days ago when I noticed more "warm" moments. I guess they're mild hot flashes, but something I can live with at the moment. I'm also taking Dr. Randolph's MenoSupport multivitamins and EstroFem (herbal supplement with black cohosh). So far no headache at all -- I'm thrilled AND...the most exciting is that I actually have a sex drive!! (not something I'm used to - not even pre-surgery!) My hubby said, "well, something's kicking in "
I any case, I'm feeling much better than I thought I would be -- I know there's a ways to go yet, but (as I begin sweating while I'm sitting here
Good luck to all

Tension headaches

You mention headaches. Dr. gave 1 mg of estradiol, but the tension headaches are still here. I am afraid not to take the estrogen since my ovaries were taken. But thus far I probably would take the hot flashes vs the headaches. How long does this last. Has anyone experienced this before. No one told me that I would feel like this with surgical menopause. I am thinking of going to the my medical Dr. regarding the headaches. The tension headaches and back muscle pain is awful. I am going on my 4 th week.

Tension headaches

I see lots of posts about headaches. I am 3 weeks post op and started on vivelle 0.1 two weeks ago. I woke up with a horrible headache yesterday and it is still hanging on. I even took a vicodin last night and was able to get some sleep. Do you think this could be from the HRT? I would have thought if I was going to have headaches they would have started before the two week mark of being on the Vivelle.

Tension headaches

I was just talking with my DH today about that. My first 2 1/2 weeks I did not have headaches or hot flashes. The Dr. started me a 1 mg estrogen in the hospital. But all of a sudden headaches really kicked in. i am going on my 4 weeks this wednesday. I think our bodies play some tricks on us. Tonight is the first night I am not going to take estrogen, so I think we all have to play with our beautiful bodies. I was just saying the first 2 1/2 weeks wasn't so bad. But you may not have any symptoms.

Tension headaches

I had bad headaches while I was reducing estrogen quickly. Since I'm on a low dose of enjuvia .450 I've had no headaches or hot flashes, it's been about a week that I've been on this dose . I still take sleep aid but seem to be getting more sleep. I had 8 hrs. last night with 5 mg of ambien. I haven't had that since surgery. My heart pounds a bit after i take the estrogen 3 to 4 hrs later but I feel I'm going in the right direction. Time will tell. All the best to you ladies. Kathy

Tension headaches

That's great! I think if I would have started on a lower dose, I probably would have been ok from the start. Hope you continue to have good luck with the Enjuvia!

Tension headaches

Thanks klgm, I think .3mg is the lowest it goes. If you ever need to start taking any I would start there first. I'm glad it's going well with the over the counter creams. I'm glad you aren't having headaches as well. I hope it continues for you.

Hormone headaches are the worst. I hope all you gals find some success in getting rid of the headaches.
Kathy
