How much does a uterus weigh?

Hi everyone!

As I was walking in the hospital with my sister in law a few months ago after her TAH, she told me she had asked the DR if her uterus weighed 17 pounds. I cannot tell you how hard I laughed when she said that. (she was laughing too, with the pillow pressed firmly on her belly)

I myself wished that mine would have been at least 25 pounds. How great would that be?

Anyone else have any guesses on how much your uterus weighs?

See Ya, Lyn

How much does a uterus weigh?

No guesses, but it's on my list of questions for the doctor in a few weeks. Mine took pictures she said she would show me (already showed DH and MIL). I'm hoping mine weighed around 20 pounds and don't want to get on the scale and find out it weighed nothing! Thanks for the chuckle.

How much does a uterus weigh?

I don't know how much mine weighed but I lost three pounds and my pants fit better now. He said it was the size of a large cantelope.

How much does a uterus weigh?

Even though my uterus was very large (15x10x7 cm -- check out "my photos" to see it if you have a strong stomach) I was most disappointed to find that it only weighed in at 370 grams. They did remove about 4 pounds of fat and skin with the panniculectomy procedure -- but you would have thought that a uterus that large would have weighed more.

How much does a uterus weigh?

I was in hospital for four days and hardly ate anything. When I got home and on the scales I had lost 2lbs - I don't think my uterus weighed anything at all!!

How much does a uterus weigh?

I don't know how much mine weighed either... However, my LSH was on Wed Oct 31, 07 and so far I've GAINED 6 lbs!!! I'm hoping that most of that is the swelling of my stomach. Either that or it's everything I was eating the week before the surgery because of nerves!!! I worked really hard to be down to a size 0/2 and looks like I'm gonna be back on the diet soon!!!

How much does a uterus weigh?

ummmm it seems that my uterus was the only part of me on a diet! It weighed nothing cuz my scale isn't moving. It's either that or the handfuls of halloween candy I am eating :-)
It's back to work tomorrow and there's more food at work then there is at home. Woe is me!

How much does a uterus weigh?

Mjcrs62. Back to work tomorrow huh? Did you have 8 weeks off? I go to the dr. tomorrow and then on the 19th of Nov. that will be my 6 week post-op before release for work. Did they give you an extra 2 weeks off? If so, why? I too had a TAH left the ovaries.

How much does a uterus weigh?

mine must've weighed 10 lb, because that's what i lost. but, they must've filled the space with a LOT of air, because my pants are tighter than what they were beforehand? and somehow, they changed my shape while they were about it too ! ! hmmmmm........that'd be right ! ! gee.
