The best way to handle this
I went back to work full-time on Thursday and Friday. Thursday I did fine, tired so I went to bed by 9:00pm. Friday was another story - by the end of the day I was absolutely EXHAUSTED, literally. I could barely walk once I got out of my car. I slept from 9pm - 8am. On Saturday I
did two loads of laundry and layed on the couch all day. Took it easy today as well. My belly was really tender and I had aching in my right side, to the point where I needed Ibuprofen.
So, my question is this - how do I tactfully say I can't keep up the pace I had on Friday, especially working a full week. I obviously am not up to 100% yet and my boss doesn't expect me to be but my co-workers do.
I wish I would have followed my gut instincts and started half-days last week.
I am dreading tomorrow - and I normally LOVE my job.

Hi Kellnette:
I don't know what kind of work you do, but your co-workers shouldn't have pushed you so much.
I would casually say something to them like, "Whew, I better slow down a bit, I sure don't want to have to take more time off". They should get the hint!!

I would try and talk to your boss alone and let him know what is going on , i am sure he or she will understand as it is only been a month and half. good luck

She totally gets it - she's been through it. Part of it was me pushing it, but then again it was others expecting it. I will go in tomorrow and have a talk with my co-workers, I can't do that for 5 days and make it through that's for sure.
I work with children with varying degrees of special needs. We have one who runs all day long, and that is who I worked with. Even without a surgery, I can't imagine keeping up with her all day!
