Stage 1a-2b Cervical cancer at age 21

Well on sept 20th of this year i was told that i have Cervical cancer and that its stage on 1a begining 2b (if i remb right i might have got the two mixed up alot of info in the head at the moment) I finished my last of 5 Chemos yesterday and i finish my last of a 5 1/2 week span of raiditation on friday.

I have an appt with an internal radiation dr on the 15th of this month to talk to him about the whole internal radiation thing im a lil nervous about it but gotta do it ya know.

Then 4-5 weeks after i get the internal radiation done then i have to see my Cancer dr and secd. my Hysterectomy right now thats the hardest part on me because of the fact that i really wanted to have my own children and now i cant i got hit with 2 big shockers within 2 weeks my 2 biggest fears came true not being able to have kids and having cacner but im just grateful that ill be able to adopt some child that needs a loving home and that i can get rid of this cancer i thank god for that. But its still scary entring the world of the unknown never had to have ANYTHING like this done before so its a lil scary for me

Just thougth I would post a lil about me and my Cancer. Hope to talk to you guys soon Im glad i found a site like this. Thanks

Much Love

Krystal,
I'm so sorry to hear about your diagnosis but be thankful they caught it early and you will be able to live and long, healthy life.

I had my hysterectomy a few months before my 28th bday and although I have been lucky enough to be blessed with a beautiful son, I still mourn the loss of my ability to have more.

You're in my thoughts.

It sounds like you are handling this like a trooper! You sound so calm about it all. Cancer is totally unfair!

I hope your internal goes well and successfully. Did I understand you to say that then you'll have a hysterectomy after that?

I'm sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Its a shocker.
I've logged back onto hystersisters after a few years of my own cancer surviving recovery. It was such a help late at night to just read other posts sometimes I'd contribute sometimes not. Some life changing events are gr8 some really suck, but its nice to have a common ground and shared space with others during an almost outta body experience time.
Best in all you are and do. Your decision in treatments should be applauded.
I was diagnosed with stage 3 uterine cancer in 2002. Like you i received internal radiation though delivery was through implanted gold seeds, about the size of a sesame to close off the cervix so that my invasive cancer wouldn't reach the area. Having had a radical hysterectomy along with Chemo, traditional and internal radiation I have just hit my 5 year survival date this last week. I was 36 at the time. I'm proud of you that at such a young age you are truly saving your own life. Your future family is lucky and will be blessed to have such a proactive and brave mamma.

I'm so very, very sorry you've "qualified" for our club here, but so glad you found us.

You sound like a very strong young lady with a super attitude. Even though this #!*% disease robs us of many things, you will find that it also makes you a stronger, more "beautiful" person with a much greater appreciation of what's truly important.

Best to you with your treatments and upcoming surgery --you'll do fine!!!! Remember, we're here 24/7!!!

Hi Crystal - I agree with the others that you sound very mature for a young woman; it must be hard to first discover that you had cancer (yes! it's downright scary!) and then to come to terms about losing the possibility of having biological children (I'm very sorry!).

However, just from the little you wrote, I'm predicting you're going to beat this cancer and be an excellent mom someday; the children whom you adopt are going to be very fortunate to be chosen by you.

Lots of s I send to you!

Take care,
