Only 20 Pain Pills Post Op?

I just called my pharmacy to see what my doctor called in for me. She said loratab 20 pills. When I had my appendix, merkle diverticulum and ovarian cyst removed my surgeon gave me 60 and a refill of 30. I am having TAH Ovary is going too. Plus bladder sling, enterocele and rectocele repair. What about your doctors?

Only 20 Pain Pills Post Op?

my dr gave me a prescription for 30 pills when i left the hospital. i cant remember what they were. i just used motrin when i got home. but i know there were no refills with the prescription. i think 20-30 pills is pretty much the norm. you can always call and ask for a refill if you need more.
good luck with your surgery...i hope everything goes well.

Only 20 Pain Pills Post Op?

Same here....only 20 or 30 percocet; they didn't last long, but I was fine with the Motrin 800's after they were gone. I did call and ask for another 30 of those when I ran out (Motrin) and she called it into the pharmacy for me.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Only 20 Pain Pills Post Op?

I was given a prescription for 30 vicodin and 30 ibuprofen 600 mg. pills, which were to be "staged" (staggered every three hours) for more constant relief. I asked for a refill and the surgeon refused. I later found the surgeons at my hospital at least don't normally deal with anything but the immediate post-op period. So I called my GP and she helped me manage my ongoing discomfort during my post-op period.

Only 20 Pain Pills Post Op?

Drs are usually very careful when prescribing the heavy duty pain meds. Mine gave me a script for 30 after my surgery. When I needed more , I called and was given another prescription.

Best wishes.

Only 20 Pain Pills Post Op?

I got 30 Percocets. I still have 25. I found the 600mg advil took care of all my discomfort after the first 2 or 3 days at home.

Like has been said above, if you need more I'm sure you can get a new script.

Good luck and don't worry.

Only 20 Pain Pills Post Op?

Good Morning Ladies:

My surgeon gave me 50 vicodin + 90 ibuprofen 800mg with partial refill.

On Thurs., my 2 wk appt, she said I should now take only as needed. (I told her how I had been taking it as prescribed.)

Have a great day!!

30 percocet (no refill), 30 800mg ibuprofen (refill) and 30 Tylenol w/codeine (refill). 1/2 doses of the percocet and 1 ibuprofen work well, haven't used the tylenol w/codeine. I was able to get a refill on the percocet just yesterday but with a strong warning.

I'm 11 days post op TAH. I've been able to cut back on the percocet the last few days. I mostly take it now at bedtime or later in the day if I'm uncomfortable.

Only 20 Pain Pills Post Op?

I think I got a prescription for 30 vicodin for when I got home. I used a total of 4 pills and that was to take the edge of the pain when I'd turn over at night while sleeping the first two nights home. I guess I will hang on to the rest...
