Has anyone else had my symptoms?

I'm scheduled for a LAVH, rectocele repair & bladder sling on Nov. 27th. I told my dr. that I want to keep my ovaries. My uterus is prolapsed, and it was just diagnosed, by the 5th doctor I have seen in 6 years. I have had constant vulvar irritation with fragile tissue on the outside of the vagina that tears EACH time with intercourse. Four of the doctors just gave me creams or hormones. I finally was referred to a vulva clinic, and the doctor there knew what was wrong right away, explained how the prolapse was causing my symptoms. He says they see about one case like mine each week, and he and his partner are writing a chapter in a text book about the topic. I have read and read to figure out what was going on, and I've never heard of anyone else with my problem.

The surgery will fix the problem, but I am still in shock - I thought I would just go home with another prescription. The closer I get to the date of my surgery, the more scared I get. I'm not sleeping well, and I'd like to just calm down a little. Does anyone have any advice for me?

Has anyone else had my symptoms?

Hi ~ I don't have any experience with your symtoms but I had a hysterectomy for a fairly rare reason. I remember coming on here wishing I could find just one other person who was just like me and could relate. I never did but you know what it didn't end up mattering. I found a bunch of really great women who for whatever problem were in the same boat. Like you I was also scared of surgery and thought it was so extreme, but I had tried every other option and it sounds like you have too! I am happy for you that there is an option to give you your health and happiness back.

Good luck to you,
