Lower Left Ache
Hi, havent posted in awhile. Its been almost 4 years since my diagnosis and subsequent chemo and radiation treatments. I have had a lower left sort of ache or pain when I am sitting, otherwise it doesnt bother me. Has anyone else experienced this? Of course the ugly cancer head is rising and I am concerned and justifying it to lifting my grandaughter (3) to doing outside garden work.
Thanks,
Janice

4th anniversary of hysterectomy...yay!
dear belle...i just noticed that today (nov. 12) is the 4th anniversary of your hysterectomy and you seem to be doing really well. congratulations on that milestone! i hope you can attribute the pain in your lower left side to lifting your 3-yr. granddaughter and gardening. i seem to get pain in my lower right side when i overdo it...i'm always terrified it could be appendix or like you, the ugly cancerhead arising. are you due for a followup soon? if the pain doesn't subside with rest and no lifting, then best to consult your dr. good luck. best wishes to you on the beautiful west coast!

Lower Left Ache
It could very well be the lifting and gardening. You know, along with having had cancer, comes the doubts that every ache and pain, most from just getting older, seems to rear ugly "cancer head" to the forefront.
One thing though: is your pain in the front or lower left of your back? You might have a kidney stone. If it doesn't go away in a few days, see your doctor. You should always get pain checked out if it doesn't go away in a few days.

Lower Left Ache
Hi belle53,
Congratulations on your 4th anniversary. I had mine in September. I can say I have been having lt sided pinches. I don't know how else to describe them. I think we all know about that bad cancerhead. I have all the same thoughts running through my head that you are having now. I wonder if it could be adhesions? I see my gyne/onc onc on friday & plan to tell her. Be well.

Lower Left Ache
Hi Belle53
Like BerthaC I have had "side pinches" every now and then and I am thinking it is some sort of adhesion....I had a tumor removed up on the diaphram muscle and that's the place that I feel it, although I don't ALWAYS feel it....it seems to rear its ugly head on NED anniversaries and prior to checkup dates...I wonder if the pain is always there but I just feel it more when I am stressed and when cancer head invades. I had bloodwork done last week - my CA125 went from 4.9 DOWN to 2.5. Certainly doesn't sound like a recurrence...but I'm scheduled for a CT this week just to make sure.
Here's hoping all is well! Cancer head can really cause a lot of stress on a body...even when you're not aware of it. Keeping in mind that this is your anniversary date...you could have a sort of "subconscious" connection to how your body feels, etc.
Take care!

I think your pain sounds like it could be adhesions -- something with which I have significant experience. Here are things that made it better for me -- yoga, which obviously stretches/relaxes the tight adhesions, massage, which does the same, and, finally, a "gas-free" diet which was recommended by my general surgeon. He said it sounded as if my on and off pain was possibly related to bowel adhesions and that when there is gas it could cause a painful pulling of that scar tissue.
I am currently pain-free in that dept.
The pain did lead my gyn/onc to order a cat scan to rule out a recurrence, so it's probably a good idea to give your gyn/onc a call, just to be on the safe side.
