Exclamation - Air Bubbles from Urethra New Info? Air Bubbles from Urethra New Info?

Hi ladies.

I'm new to this site and I had some questions about the air bubbles. I've seen many posts about this issue, but none recently. I'm 33 years old and had a TVH at the age of 21 due to uterine prolapse. They removed my ovaries during subsequent procedures. I've had this issue since my original surgeries but in the past couple of years it seems to have worsened. It's not painful but the constant adjusting to get it to "pop" out is aggravating to say the least. Especially when no matter what you do it doesn't go away. After several visits to specialists, I still have no answers or solutions. Is there any new information out there?

The Dr.s I've seen also looked at me like I was making this up!

Thank you for this wonderful site!
I posted to wrong board earlier sorry.

I am not sure if the air bubbles that women experience here from their recent surgeries is the same thing that you are experiencing many years following your own surgeries.

Here is a link to threads that we have here on the site for you to take a look at:

I am sorry I could not locate anymore information on it. You might do a Google and see if there is newer information for you.

Air Bubbles from Urethra New Info?

Ahhh...the bubbles. Yes, my urologist looked at me like I had rocks in my head and said he had never heard of this. However, he was concerned about it enough to do a scope to make sure I did not have a fistula. Everything checked out fine.

Once I found this site and started reading about others who are experiencing the same thing, I want to go back to him and say, “See, it is not all in my mind, lots of others are experiencing the same thing. Go out there and read…do some research, you should know about this...” Seriously, I think I’ll mention this site to him when I go back for my six-month check up.

As for why the bubbles occur, I have no clue. I do know that they are erratic. I have them for several days (or weeks, I stopped counting) in a row and then nothing for a while. I should probably try to track to see if they cycle around the times that I think my hormones are out of whack, or if I am not feeling well, etc. They are not uncomfortable, just unnerving, because everytime I feel a bubble, I hold my breath waiting for leakage to follow. So far no leaking, but I can’t stop worrying about it, you know?

Air Bubbles from Urethra New Info?

I think maybe I can shed some light on the air bubbles. I have experienced them also after my battle this past year with a vesicovaginal fistula after an abdominal hysterectomy.

My urogynecologist sent me to pelvic floor physical therapy. I thought she was crazy. But believe it or not it cleared up alot of my symptoms, including the air bubbles!

The Physical Therapist told me how the pelvic floor muscles tighten and can mess up everything from the stream of urine, to incontinence, etc.

This has been a good experience for me even though at first I thought it would be really strange. It has made such a difference to my overall health.

Hope this helps!

Question:
When you say "air bubbles" are you talking about actual bubbles in the urine you deposit in the toilet? I have had this going on for four years, even before my TAH/BSO. Sometimes I will go days without it, then they are right back there! They disappear if I don't flush right away. Anyway, just wondering!

Air Bubbles from Urethra New Info?

whatsnormal,

In my case, when referring to air bubbles, the best way I can describe it is like passing tiny amounts of gas through my urethra...several itty-bitty bubbles at a time.

I haven't noticed any bubbles in the toilet, but I have never really looked for that. I'll try to remember to pay more attention to that aspect the next time I have another bout with "the bubbles."

Julia,

What do you do with the Physical Therapist? Kegels?

I'm still experiencing those bubbles... I'm glad others are keeping this topic alive. It is so annoying!

Air Bubbles from Urethra New Info?

I googledmy key words as it felt like a bubble and in my urethra. I have not had any sort of operation and my only child is 5. This sensation started a couple months ago and usually is at night and wakes me up. I was wondering if I should see my oby/gyn or what.....
