No hair gel or sprays for surgery-told at presurgical testing last night

Hi
I had a busy day yesterday first thing in the morning I had a nuclear stress test due to a irregular heartbeat then in the evening my presurgical testing at the hospital.
The nurse mentioned no hair gel or spray on hair day of surgery. Does anyone know why?
I understand the reason for no body lotion, deodorant, perfumes ,powder etc
Thanks

I don't really know the answer to your question but I'm guessing that it has something to do with inflammability.

No hair spray or makeup whatsoever

Hello Sister,

One day before my surgery I was asked not to wear any perfume, makeup, hair spray, etc.

I couldn't resist asking why, because I wanted to at least to my hair nicely on the morning of surgery.

The answer from the OR team: Flammability. So there you go, that is why!

Please don't worry too much, it all went so incredibly well for me that now, 2 weeks after my surgery, I see that all the worry was unnecessary.

I wish you good luck and take good care of yourself after surgery!

Dear Contessa D,

Thank you for asking, my surgery was a great success. Only the uterus and cervix were removed, due to an increasing number of growing fibroids. Plus irregular, abundant, long, painful periods.

I cant' believe how well I am feeling, almost like nothing had happened. The only issue I had was the gases and constipation for a week and a half. A quick tip: getting up and walking around seems to alleviate the gas pressure, if only momentarily.

The constipation was so bad that I had to use supositories (with doctor's approval) on top of the fiber, laxatives, prune juice, etc.

The added bonus of walking around is that it really helps post-op Princesses should make a great recovery!

Again, I know it's hard not to worry about surgery, but I'd like to remind all our hyster sisters that 99% of the worry is usually unnecessary. I wish I had had the time to read all the frequently asked questions in this website before the surgery, along with all the tips and advice. Hyster Sisters is a wonderful resource for all of Princesses!

Now, I have a question: what does BSO DaVinci surgery mean?

Take care, prepare all your snacks, prune juice and all pampering items, they will make your recovery fast and happy.

Good luck on the 23rd., you will be fine!

Regards,

Changura, the happy post-op Princess.

BSO I believe refers to removal of the ovaries. Da Vinci surgery is laparascopic surgery performed by a robot. I just had it and it is fantastic! I had a total hysterectomy done that way and ended up with just five bandaids and about 1/4" incisions.

Wow, I have several surgeries and have been told not to wear lotions and or perfumes, but never hair products. Good thing I've got long curly hair and I need my hair mousse! LOL. Now I find out it's b/c it's flammible OMG!
I'm having surgery Dec. 4th and I think I'll just have wild hair for my surgery.
I will have the stylish blue cap anyway..............Good luck everyone.
