uterosacral ligament pain

My gyn thinks that my pelvic pain (6 weeks and getting steadily worse) is due to strain on one of my uterosacral ligaments. He says that the strain is caused by my backwards tilting uterus and is made worse by the presence of small uterine fibroids. The fibroids themselves aren't creating any problems with bleeding. His recommendation is a hysterectomy--according to him the only solution. The pain is on my left side and both a hernia and diverticulitus have been ruled out. The only thing to show up on the CT scan and an ultrasound were the fibroids (3 about the size of a marble). A colonoscopy showed no problems. Basically his diagnosis is one of elimination and his cure seems drastic. I'd be grateful for any thoughts or recommendations!

I my self would seek a second and if needed a third opinion, While his opinion may prove to be a wise one you will feel better if you hear it from someone else. And if his opinion is not the only way to go then you have given yourself options.

I agree with Pamir. If you are unsure then I would get a second opinion. You may hear the same thing but at least you will know what other doctor feel about this and know that you have done the best thing for you. Best of luck to you.

Thanks Pamir and Jessie. I came to the same conclusion late last night. I'm not excited about finding a second doctor or adding time to the process, but I so think it's the best thing to do.

uterosacral ligament pain

I, too, have had what seems to be uterosacral ligament pain for a few years now. It can be so painful I can't walk. I also experience alot of snapping and pubic symphisis pain as well. I will be having a TAH and cyctocele and rectocele repairs done on 12/7. Anyone else with these symptoms and/ or resolutions?
I also agree with obtaining second and third opinions! Good luck!
